Is chi torpedo useless in PvP

I always admired that ability. The animation was great and it gave monk such a cool flavor. I see no one ever use it anymore. I honestly thought it was pruned. What gives?

In arena, tigers lust is just better most of the time I think. With how easy it is for us to be kited or for teammates to be kited, tigers lust provides more support.

In BGs, its a little more up in the air I think, it might be less likely for you to be targetted specifically and there are more healers (maybe) around to dispel/hand of freedom/etc for your teammates so you could get away with it there.

In PVE, there are a couple M+ dungeons I would consider taking Tigers lust, but in general, I keep chi torpedo for that.

Tiger’s Lust is just really strong. 70% movement speed and breaks roots and snares, and can be cast on allies. Torpedo usually makes you roll pass your target lol

It’s not useless, but if you get rooted it’s useless. Which happens alot in PvP.

The root break from Tiger is just too good to pass up.

That’s me always rolling past my target and then have to do the walk of shame back to him.

I use it on my MW for arenas.

I never used it on my WW. They already have FSK for the long range travel ability and Roll with TL is just better in every situation.

It needs to heal allies you pass through again. I miss being a friendly M. Bison.

I can only imagine how helpful it must be in flag maps.

Chi torpedo used to have an honor talent that allowed it to break all snares, but that was removed in either 8.1 or 8.2. Now tiger’s lust is pretty much the default choice.

Oh wow, that would have been a nice talent to keep. That’s unfortunate.

I’m pretty sure Chi Torpedo moves you a big fat nowhere with the Flag carry debuff. Just like how Roll is limited.

Now if it was Chi Leap…

Nope! I flag carry all the time because chi torpedo works as intended in WSG and TP, but in ToK you are reduced to maybe half the normal distance as with similar fight or flight abilities (ie. fel rush).

Oh okay, neat.

Tiger lust is always going to be better because you can give it to your teammates

Everything you said here was wrong.

It was roll that had the honor talent (which was removed when bfa prepatch came out)

Chi torpedo is just an upgraded roll.

Tiger’s lust has almost always been the default choice for WW at least, except in WoD when it was good for dmg

Roll dispelled snares true, but if you selected chi torpedo in your talents, Yu’lon gift changes to chi torpedo dispelling snares. That was for mistweavers.

For wind walkers, it was flying serpent kick that removed snares with Yu’lon’s Gift:

And that PvP talent wasn’t removed in the prepatch. It lasted until 8.1.

Guess I forgot it was removed in 8.1 I never did use it due to other better talent choices for WW

Depends on what you are fighting and what spec you are playing as. As a MW, I only take Lust against a DK cause their slow can’t be dispelled. Every other time I take torpedo. When I am on WW, I only take Lust to save my healers mana on dispells.

Its useful if you don’t want an extra keybind, or play a gnome which already has a root break (even still I think tigers lust is still more usefu).

The extra range it shoots you in BGs is pretty strong. Sometimes when they torpedo away you just gotta let them go.
