Yeah like I said, it’s a perspective thing to me.
I don’t see heroic or mythic as progression or important because it isn’t adding to the lore, I’m not getting different cutscenes, just higher level gear.
Removing toxic behavior from WoW would be like removing gays from a gay bar.
Toxic behavior as well as degenerate behavior(moon guard) is what makes WoW unique.
Nope, I wouldn’t even bother unless it’s asked for, or their performance is causing the run to fail. DPS meters are everywhere. Most people want to know how well they are doing. When they’re ready, they will start to ask things like, “How am I doing?” and then you can inform them of how bad they are and how to get better.
One could say mythic adds to the lore, because of the “secret phase” that can (at times) actually add to what is happening.
Not really.
You’re not gaining any new lore information at all.
The secret N’zoth phase, doesn’t actually flesh out the story or anything.
I get people want to push higher content which is fine, my point is that it simply isn’t necessary to do anything else in the game.
Yes, and no.
If you try and help them, if you see they are learning their class or don’t know the fight, than helping them learn is good for the community.
However more often then not, people will call them bad, start an argument, and than vote kicks start flying.
I wish WOW would do the same, however it’s basically too late for that, due to the engine and the fact the the dev team looks at App developers as free help. Which means that the UI and other functions of the game are not as well designed as they are in games that restrict addon use.
See, there’s a disconnect.
You’re thinking in this manner:
In the entire time I taught you what I know, I never once looked at, or thought of you in that manner. It’s not about informing someone how bad they are. It’s about hoping they genuinely improve. I think when someone’s intention is to actually help people, they shouldn’t keep that kind of thing to them self. Wishing to see other people improve isn’t just an excuse to tell them they’re horrible, it’s so that they can perform better in all things.
I suppose we’ll just have to agree to disagree.
This game would have a much higher skill cap than it does now if they removed addons.
But if we go by “necessary” nothing is progression.
It is not necessary to raid normal.
It is for story.
It depends on how your phrase it and how you go about it.
No, it isn’t. LFR exists.
It would be basically unplayable at anything but trivial gameplay levels.
it is not harassment to expect people to pull their weight. That is called accountability.
For people who use them as a crutch, sure lol.
For people who’ve ever spent any time playing any other mmo in the world seriously, won’t be a difference at all.
Literally splitting hairs and not really countering what I’m saying.
So again, this is MY perspective, you have a different one. Good for you!
Depends on the content and how you go about it. If you’re whining about someone’s DPS in LFR , Normal, or a Heroic Dungeon then you’re being a clown. If it’s higher level content then I think it’s fair game if it’s done right. With that being said even the world first guilds don’t usually openly call people out when they are struggling. Any halfway decent guild does this sort of thing behind the scenes. If someone is struggling constantly then replace them. No need to publicly humiliate them.
I 100% disagree. WoW raids are designed around add ons.
I’ve played other MMOs longer than I have played WoW. Very seriously.
People would not be clearing mythic without add ons.
Like if you have a blood DK tank and the healer numbers are through the roof as the DPS is standing in bad. Had the DPS try to call the healer out for not DPSing since they were busy keeping the bad DPS alive. Best part it was the DPS that’s the healer kept alive that threw the fit.
I agree, too many of us rely on Addons for even the simplest tasks.
And I’m not even talking about DBM. I use a fishing addon to make the bobble larger and have more sound. I use…used an addon to set my auction prices and set them to 48hours automatically. (seriously can’t wait for the AH addon to finally work again)
About the only thing I don’t use addons for is DBM, and that’s because I stopped with the Social game long ago.
p.s. still have it, for the one trip through each wing of each LFR so I can do the lore part of the game.
People have become so dependent on them now, it’s sad.
I typically find people saying that add ons are a crutch for raiding, that raiding would be fine without them…
…aren’t participating in the very raiding they are talking about.
