Hello! I’m a returning player who tends to take long hiatuses from WoW, so I often come back with a few questions. I’ve been playing on Bloodsail Buccaneers (RP) since Classic launched in 2019, and my character still remains there. I noticed on the Cataclysm Classic server that it’s the only realm with Low as it’s population on the list. This is totally fine, but I haven’t played Cataclysm classic at all and I’m curious how active it is on there? If you have characters on there, how do you find it?
I tend to like the vibe on RP servers because I like the game’s lore, even if I’m not personally RPing, so I’m really curious! I also had to restart my character on the Classic Era servers on Westfall (Normal), because Bloodsail Buccaneers on Classic Era had become an unofficial hardcore realm before Hardcore had officially launched, and I was unable to find people to party up with like I had prior. The entire realm had changed while I was gone. (I chose a very unlucky time to come back haha.) I just want to make sure that this is not the case for Catacylsm Classic’s version of Bloodsail Buccaneers, or if I’m better off restarting or moving to a Normal server. I’m really excited for MoP Classic and don’t want to invest time on new characters on a server that may be unofficially hardcore without me knowing! Thanks!
It’s more active during evenings and weekends. Auction house can be sparse on certain items. LFG and Trade is relatively spam free. Life is more elegant here.

The pop was too low in BC to effectively find heroic dungeons. Many of us left then. I was in one of the last guilds to give up on the server. Of course that wouldn’t be an issue now that we have rdf.

Define ‘active’.
It’s the lowest population server in Cata Classic. Alliance is more populated and active than Horde. It didn’t change to a hardcore realm or anything, it’s still the same kind of realm, and with cross-realm LFD you can do dungeons easily. If you want to raid, you’ll need to find a guild for it.

There’s enough of us active to get by, but don’t expect to see things like an active AH. Solo players and small guilds won’t last long, but the bigger guilds have a decently active RP community, although I can’t say much else personally. I’m waiting for Pandaria to really dive into the RP scene

Couple RP guilds on Alliance but none on Horde.
Horde is pretty much dead.
AH is N Korea level empty.
My friends and I transferred off recently because there’s no point in playing on a dead RP server.
honestly reading these comments it sounds terrible. Scarce auction house? No one chatting in trade?
If you have 1 person call out for raid your whole team isn’t raiding because it takes 45min of constant chat spamming to find ONE person
Oh there’s always people chatting in trade. Can’t attest to the quality, though
Thanks everyone for the replies! It’s really sad to see the population of this server decline so much. I really enjoyed the community during Vanilla Classic. I’m definitely unsure what to do, whether to move to a Normal server or stick with Bloodsail Buccaneers. I do play mostly casually and solo, but I really enjoyed the cloak questline in MoP and want to be able to do raids so I can complete it in Classic.
It’d be nice to see Bloodsail Buccaneers gain players during MoP. I met most of my friends on WoW during MoP in retail because we all enjoyed the story, and it was actually at this time that I moved from a Normal server to Wyrmrest Accord so I could be on an RP server. It feels strange to be considering doing the opposite now.
yeah its dead mate. i went over there to see how ppl were bc i prefer rp servers.
and its just ain’t there and i need the ah to survive lol. the only saving grace is rdf.
if you are really itching to rp for wow things, i would suggest retail moonguard ally and
wyrmcrest accord for horde but here, i’m p sure you’ll see and uptick in mop.
we’re in a very long final patch and i can only see the population declinin until mop then.
good luck.
