Is blizzard actively discouraging the casual gamer?

Yeah, I’ve been confused about that myself. I thought that everyone that plays WoW is “casual” since there are no real prizes (at least none, with RL monetary values) to be won…

Agreed, especially if it’s bought up as arguments to defend against something. Your family/job isn’t an argument, if anything, it’s an emotional argument, and should be rightly discarded because it’s not even substantial to begin with as an argument. Literally anybody can use this about anything.

(Before i go ahead, i’m not talking to you Sybil, i’m talking in general)

I think it just seems self centered to use your family/job to convince people of your (general you) arguments. When really, your points shouldn’t need that, because like i said above, anybody can use this excuse.

So was Multiboxing via software. So was First Aid until BFA.

Sure, but i think the point that Sybilmalkav was getting at is to have substantive feedback that isn’t just saying “This sucks” or “This is great” over and over again without ever elaborating it.

This. This is one of my major complaints. Once you see all the small (and not so small) things that are only there just to make things take longer, you can’t un-see them, and they’re EVERYWHERE. Not being able to mount in the Maw is just the most obvious one.

Mob densities, drop rates for quests, kill number requirements, being dismounted from a sneeze, being slowed when trying to run from mobs so you HAVE to fight them, the terrain, even the long RP walk quests during leveling, all of it is there just to make things take longer. A little bit of time here and a little bit of time there adds up pretty quickly.

WOW has always been like this to an extent, but it’s super blatant in SL. It’s like Argus 2.0. Maybe I’m just cynical, IDK. But between that, the classes feeling stale / clunky, the insistence on borrowed power and everything being reset each expac I have come to the conclusion that Blizzard’s design philosophy just isn’t for me any more.
