Is bear tank viable?

correctly

If a group downs a boss, who are you or anyone else to decide what is correct.

edit - spelling ect;

Iā€™ve played wotlk for 10+ yearsā€¦ you guys are clueless itā€™s not 2009 anymore.

Bear is the tankiest tank in wotlk by a large margin. Most damage reduction, most avoidance, most hp, highest dps.

You wont see many of them because they are second highest threat per second on single target and aoe. (which imo still makes them pretty damn good to be second highest on both while being the tankiest)

Meta always follows ā€œbestā€ so since DK is best single target threat and paladin is best aoe threat, druid gets left in the back burner.

Imo? bear is probably the best tank in the expansion for progression or for guilds that arnt fully min maxing.

Thatā€™s false, Feral tank is the worst in wotlkā€¦, Prot paladin is the best tank for all content, your griefing your raid as feral druidā€¦

Feral has better cooldown and is factually much tankier than paladin. It factually does more dps. How does a feral druid grief their raid? please explain. since apparently your only information is regurgitated youtube videos from people who have never actually seen the content following wikipedia guides.

stop spreading misinformation, you never played the game with that statement, WOTLK, feral is hardly used and by far one of the worst tanks in 3.3.5, we are not playing 3.0, or 3.2 we are on the final patch, Prot Paladin is the main tank for almost all content, with a blood dk as off tank, no one uses prot warriors or feral druids periodā€¦

the only use feral as is cat dps game has been min/maxed figured out on pservers for 10+ years, which harder raids and harder tuned content.

Its actually blood dk main tank and pally offtank. So you clearly dont have any idea what you are talking about or what a main tank or off tank does. off tank is aoe and controls adds, main tank holds boss. Off tank handles most of the trash pulls in the raid.

Kind of ironic that you donā€™t even have the most basic of information about it but claim someone is ā€œspreading misinformationā€.

Druid maintains 75% damage reduction from armor cap (easily obtained in wotlk).
Druid has 12% static damage reduction in talents.(applied to incoming spell damage)
Druid receives an additional 25% physical damage reduction when ever they crit(which is about every other attack and even more frequently because of bleed crits).
Druid has barkskin ANOTHER damage reduction cooldown.
Druid has 40% more HP than other tanks with a cooldown that increases that by another 45%.
Druid just straight up does the most damage between the other tanks.
Druid has another cooldown that increases healing received from all sources.

Paladins ā€œaoe damage reductionā€ cooldown canā€™t even be used as a tank otherwise you legit just kill yourself or waste ardent.
Bear has higher avoidance than paladin
Bear has higher physical damage reduction than paladin
Bear has higher spell damage reduction than paladin
Bear has way more hp than paladin
In fights with only 3 targets or less bear has more aoe threat than paladin(most boss fights)
Bear has far more single target threat than paladin
Bear has more damage than paladin
Bear has better defensive cooldowns than paladin

The list literally goes on and on about how much bear is better than paladin. The only thing prot pal has over bear is 4+ mob pulls threat wise, anything lower than that and the bear towers over paladin.

Block mitigates a static amount of damage. Lich King being the hardest hitting boss in the game means that block is at its least useful in the entire game against him. It, in percentage terms, mitigates the least when the incoming each attack does the most amount of damage.

Pretty sure armor cap isnā€™t attainable in WotLK, regardless of spec.

This is the first Iā€™ve ever heard of this. What spell is it?

Protector of the pack is a talent that reduces all damage by 12%

Frenzied defenses (passive skill at 40) (I was wrong about the version we are getting) Itā€™s 25% reduced damage from the next physical attack after critting. (this passive probably makes it the best tank for patchwork hands down, couple other bosses I can think of as well)

Everything is viable, donā€™t think too hard and have fun

well, they are not wrong. thatā€™s actually how wrath is being played lately, hence majority of classic will too

He quoted two separate 12% DRs, one unconditionally and one after they crit.

Itā€™s Savage Defense, not Frenzied Defenses. It reduces the damage from the ability by a fraction of your attack power, not a fraction of the damage of the attack. Itā€™s a worse version of block, as both block and Savage Defense mitigate a set amount of damage.

Just like block, Savage Defense gets worse the harder mobs hit.

you miss the point, its IF you can, Not what is easier ā€¦ tbh i enjoy a challenge ā€¦ the snoozefest of rogues and warriors as dps in original classic was just boring boring boring boring and made gearing a pain in the buttocks.
