Is Archimonde Still Alive?

They’re usually obtuse when they’re not sure what they want to do with a particular character. Or they’re saving said character for a surprise return down the road

Archimonde sent him to Azeroth right before he died, as seen below. So your argument about him being alive because he sent AU Gul’dan to Azeroth doesn’t make any sense.

Furthermore like I said before:

He’s a demon and since he died on Draenor. He’s alive. Demons don’t die unless killed within the Twisting Nether. Since he died as you see in the cinematic. He actually likely lived, because demons can’t die while on a mortal world. We later loot his corpse in Legion further verifying that the idea he should still be recovering within the twisting nether.

This isn’t a debate nor an argument. The last known stance on Archimonde by the people behind the story of World of Warcraft is that he is dead. They do have a workable option to bring him back, but if they don’t want or plan too then they will leave him dead.

That is the fact of the matter, nothing more, nothing less.

So, he’ll remain dead until Blizzard needs him again is what you’re saying :dragon:

Yeah, its all up to Blizzard.

They are dead for now. That is until we visit the “Fel Lands”, just like with Shadow Lands and meet it’s “first creators”. I’ve a feeling that we’ll be visiting all the other “Lands” in due time to finish up the totality of the story.

Well thank you for explaining this, but damn does blizzard leave a lot of plot holes in their writing…

Most companies do when you dig beyond the surface level. The bigger the franchise, the more holes it’s going to have over time

Your welcome.

yeah but

Warcraft is … worse. Roughly half of the major releases starting with WC2 do major retcons to previous releases. And those are the flagship titles, generally the ones you should be doing that to the least.

Well, to be fair, Warcraft 1 and 2 barely had a story to begin with. Which is why large swaths of it were retconned/changed over time. But I get where you’re coming from

I mean Warcraft 1 and 2 had to do recons because they had two different campaigns that contradicted each other as one focused on the Horde completing their conquest and the Alliance stopping said conquest.

sure. I don’t think retcons are by default bad, but each one incurs a debt in return for short-term payout.

Blizzard as a company only learned that it gives a short-term payout and keeps accruing more debt.

And that completely clashes with the lore that we have, so I dismiss Kosak’s statement, putting it on the same level as Chris Metzen claiming that Falstad Wildhammer was dead at Blizzcon even though he wasn’t.

Just because they made the game, doesn’t mean they get it right all the time.

Archimonde is not dead. He died on Draenor. Not in the Twisting Nether. The cinematic confirms this, and it has to remain the way it is because if that changes, the Legion expansion’s entire story is significantly damaged.

Every time you think about asking a question like this just keep repeating to yourself the David Tennant “Timey Wimey Ball of Stuff” quote until the notion goes away or you get hungry.

Not to forget that in Legion you go back to Draenor to loot his corpse which was not in the Twisting Nether. I know people like to take Kosak’s word, but why create a new quest affirming our suspicions if it wasn’t supposed to be a hint in the direction of where they may go in the future.

what is a one

if I travelled back in time and talked to myself are there two of me? or is there just one?
there were two varians that became one

if you trace the universes history back scientists will tell you all matter was converged in one point and expanded. the big bang. a singularity. you and I couldve been one consciousness together.

Archimonde died in alternate Draenor, so he may come back in the future.

And even if we consider that Archimonde died in a place deeply affected by fel magic, we can also theorize that he didn’t die permanently, as in the Legion expansion we saw Sargeras using Argus’ powers to revive demons that in theory would have died forever.

So, if Blizzard wants it, they can bring him back.

I mean basically. But until than blizzard has said that’s he’s dead. Not sure what there is to debate if we’re not even going to accept lore points that blizz says happened :dragon:
