I know Azerite Armor is widely hated for the RNG acquisition, but they actually gameplay benefits are great.
Pick your favorite spell, and supercharge by stacking traits.
It’s literally the first time since the new talent system that I can experiment with builds.
Really not going to enjoy the Shadowlands prepatch when I lose Shrouded Suffocation on my Rogue.

I quit before 8.2, so I only experienced the first iterations of azerite armor–quit because of it. It was terrible. In pvp, I remember affliction was only viable in pvp with a 3 stack drain life trait gimmick. If you didn’t have them, your spec didn’t work. And if you did, it was still super boring to charge it up and hope to 1-shot someone. Also, it seemed like the vast majority of azerite traits were procs and passives. Not at all fun.

i like it but i think specific armor pieces should be cheaper and that armor should drop from m+. Some of the traits are really cool, like thunderaans fury or frost whelp

Agreed. I feel like they should of done Azerite armor like essences in the neck though. In a safe area you can just swap out and each piece had access to all the traits for your spec. So the RNG factor is gone, but the fun is still there and it would be nice for swapping to PvP, M+, raiding etc. Without having to farm for 6 weeks+ to get bis for what you need.

Absolutely not. It feels like a non choice, and the idea of having to replace the same pieces for the same perk every raid tier was boring. I’m going to enjoy no longer having to worry about praying to the RNG gods that I get the ONE dungeon piece I need from M+ because it’s the only one with the right combination of traits that I need, even though I have it already but that was from last tier so it’s not good enough.
I really hate this system.

The choice was always determined by which traits were “better” according to a chart.
I won’t really miss it, per se, but it’s not any better or worse than what it replaced so I’m kind of neutral.
I’ll be keeping mine for the old world farming.
Can’t say I will miss it. Would have been better if you could slot the traits without RNG armor rolls or stock pile residium for the perfect piece from a vendor. Too much RNG was focused around the replacement for set bonuses only to introduce traits that did the same thing but worse. BiS is subjective to other stats and raid quality azerite armor is not always BiS sometimes a 1% gain in performance.
Then there were the failed traits like the matrix beams that would random pull trash in M+ or break a CC. Even the Rezan trait that spawns from the AD dungeon armor bugs out and gets clipped on terrain not applying it’s damage. I understand the concept sounded cool; however, it just didn’t work out well. Working on the core gameplay of the classes and specs would have gone a long way for both the players and the company. Still, even with SL the classes feel like a broken foundation and that’s not a good way to enter new content.
I’m gonna miss a baby frost wyrm unleashing wrath along with an adult frost wyrm. Icy Citadel though??? Ehhhh
That being said. Good riddance to Azerite Armor and Essence in general. I feel like it’s always been an unnecessary supplement to our classes.
EDIT: And when I mean as a supplement… for some classes, it’s a must which REALLY sucks… Shadow Priests with Chorus of Insanity and Whispers of the Damned for example.
definitely, they should be re rollable like talents not having to pay thousands of gold
God no! I can’t wait til it’s finally gone
I would have missed it if they actually buffed lower end traits to be competitive with higher end ones. But since Blizzard didn’t care enough to do so, then they aren’t worth missing.
Honestly, i didn’t have THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT much trouble acquiring them. i got my 475 pieces with the traits i needed, and i liked flashpoint, i liked inevitable demise back in Season 1.
i won’t miss RNG buying loot boxes for them tho. this season i purchased 4 random head boxes in total. the first 3 were the same one, the worse in slot headpiece for all 3 of my specs. It was very tilting. The 4th box was what i wanted.
Nope. Get it away from me as quickly as possible. End this expansion, put it down, and bring on new things that I can be mad about.

Not in the least. Should be an in game event where everyone burns their armor and then a cinematic from the Vindicaar of a giant blue flame jumping up from the surface of Azeroth.
Well, the only thing making shadow a full spec is the borrowed power from azerite.
Unlike most classes, blizz didnt compensate for that loss in SL design so shadow will be rough to play.
