What, you mean like it is now? While it is still at $15. WHAT rewards in the Shop do you need to buy? The current shop is totaly optional.
You’re shifting the goalposts. The point of comparison is the business model not the game or category. Most MMOs aren’t as successful as WoW and its success has little to do with its business model and everything to do with it just being a decent game.
They’ve been on a downwards trend for over a decade.
Most of the people that agree with me left the game long ago. The people that still complain in the forums about things they’re not happy with are the ones who are still hanging on for hope that things get better so they don’t leave too.
The number of people that have stopped playing wow greatly exceeds the number of people who still play.

I deliberately mentioned the genre of games because if you want to talk about F2P for WoW, you need to compare it to game LIKE WOW. Not just whatever other games you can find. This is not shifting goalposts. This is staying on topic.
So? The game is 20 years old. It would be naive to say the least that there would not be bleed. But the simple fact that it still has millions of subscribers just shows it’s resilience.
And yet, the game is still going strong. The fact that you believe all the negative people left and the game is STILL going strong is actually not the flex you think it is. That is actually a point in my favour that “the majority do not agree with you”.
You are going to have to provide some citation on that. Just because there are 7 billion people in the world and only 100 million play WoW is not actually proof of your point. The FACT that WoW is still the most popular MMO out there is not really supporting what you say.

Of course it’s going strong, I never said it was a bad game, or that there aren’t people who love it and think it’s great, that would be ridiculous. And no, it’s an appeal to popularity just like I did by saying the majority of players left. They both completely ignore the reasons people stay/leave or whether they’re disappointed/happy with the state of the game.
I don’t actually have words for how stupid this is.
At one point it was overtaken by Final Fantasy in active player count, while that game has subscriptions too its free to play model is significantly less restrictive than WoW. But also that’s completely irrelevant to what I’m saying.
I really hope you’re still in school because if you’re finished with schooling the education system has really let you down.
