I live on a fixed income now. Been subscribed since WotLK and feel that the monthly subscription price for this game is worth the $15. Though have to admit, sometimes, some of the things Blizzard has implements. (ie: all things Pathfinder, level squish etc ) makes we stop and reevaluate this decision. However I just change my play style to be able to continue enjoying the game . I don’t see myself unsubscribing in the near future.
/Thinks to self: " Maybe Blizzard need to revisit their core creative ideas and goals"
100%.
If I rage quit the game it wont be the price…it’ll be Ion and crew pushing my buttons one too many times with these bad decisions and the arrogant doubling down on them until people start walking
Ya it would be ~$25 a month now if adjusted for inflation.
$0.50 per day ($0.03/hr), pretty much 24/7 (except maintenance which is fine) to me is a bargain for a game that didn’t take away expansions and content that I paid for.
And they let you paid with in-game gold, which is a win, along with free Classic/Anniversary as well
$13 a month, taking 50 cents off for every Tuesday clownshow.
Let’s see…
50¢ a day for 24/7 access (minus the weekly server care) (or 43¢ per day if you’re on the 6mo/yr plan) or… $26.50 for a ticket to my local AMC cinema for a 7:00pm movie with a 2hr runtime.
I’m beyond good with it and find it one of the best entertainment values for money I can currently find.
But clearly, your call.
By comparison it is one of the cheapest hobbies you could have. Even if you include internet charges the $$ per hour for a moderate gamer is worth it.
Liolang…yeh agree !!
if you’re playing this game even casually you can make enough in wow gold to pay for a token, this game is technically free, what are yall doing?
Those are some VERY rough estimates. You’ve way overinflated what they’d spend for development and aren’t considering that some of these expenses would be split with other projects. Even if we didn’t adjust for the overblown dev budget listed here, they still come away with a large profit.
I cant believe we have players who are gold cap and then we have some in here pretending you cant make enough gold for a token lol
The numbers mention are for the .1% of players, the whales. The other 90%+ spend little to no money. So most of the players are getting the game for free.
Compair that the WoW then most of us wouldn’t be paying anything for the game and only the top 1% of players would be funding the whole thing. I believe an MMORPG takes a lot more to maintain then a mobile game but the point is the same.
WoW can only charge a monthly subscription and charge for expansions because it started when subs were the norm. They have been lucky to survive with that model and it’s made the lazy. Ask younger games if they pay subs for games and they will ether look at you like your crazy or they have game passes that let them play dozens of games for $15 a month without buying the initial game.
Yet here you are, whining about 50¢ a day access to 24/7 entertainment in your home. Do you ever go see movies in a cinema?
Funny, because I spend an average of 3hrs a day NOT playing any Mythic Plus whatsoever, and still feel I could spend more time playing WoW, and still not ever touch Mythic Plus.
Hlarious…50 cents doesnt even pay the tax on a $10 purchase anymore.
We’re not even whining about the cost of something…we’re whining about the less than the sales tax on something, lmao
Underrated reply. ![]()
I’d rather the subscription be $25/month (inflation since 2004) and zero microtransactions than to see MORE microtransactions.
You get so much for the WoW sub it’s literally the super king of MMOs. DF/TWW are some of the best expansions ever made, you get Plunderstorm, Hardcore, Classic and Classic Progression, and Remixes now. All for 15 dollars a month + an expansion every 2 years.
You could literally just play WoW and no other games and almost never run out of stuff to do unless you live in your mom’s basement and game 18 hours a day
I guess my excuse is I am lazy ![]()
But your right, spending a few hours a day farming raid mats and being smart with the AH you can make more gold then you know what to do with and in essence the game is FREE
oh, i see: you misunderstood my statement.
i didn’t say $15/month was too much. I merely said that WoW is a garbage game and i wouldn’t pay a dime for it anymore.
I would pay $25/month to play fellowship, though. But that’s just a one-time fee. I did buy all three of the supporter packs because i enjoy Fellowship that much.
I’ve already unsubbed from wow and doubt i’ll ever sub again.
why anyone still plays wow when fellowship exists, i’ll never understand…
I’d say I’m in the low middle bracket of gold farmers and I get by with token and more. Get into mining/herbalism a few hours a day while waiting in q which is decent income. I get the chunk of my token paid off with vicious bloodstones, farm honor for that through pvp activities. It’s all very doable even as a casual.
