IPV 6 Broken? AGAIN as of 8.2.5

Inquiring about IPV6 . Since Tuesday of this week I have been unable to get an IPV 6 connection in game. The status always reads IPV 4. My time to connect to the server has increased as well as have load screen times. I checked with the online ipv 6 test, my cable modem, my isp, and my NIC and all say they are function fine with ipv 6. Yes it is also selected as an option in game settings as well but WoW refuses to connect that way. Did something break in the hotfixes?

I haven’t seen other reports of this Wolftrakker. Really you shouldn’t see any real world difference between IPv4 and IPv6. The difference you are seeing may be an indication of something else going on. Let’s take a look at a WinMTR test:

The instructions are on this Blizzard Support page:

Once you have the tool open enter the IP number for the server group you play on in the WinMTR box then hit start.

137.221.105.2

(include periods)

Leave it run for 5 minutes or so. Doesn’t matter if you are playing or not. Then use the button that copies Text to your clipboard. Paste that on your thread here.

*You may need to alter or remove any URL addresses to paste on forum. You could also place the test results in a code block:

Open chat box - paste test then right click - “select all”. Should highlight everything. Then press the preformatted text button along top of chat box. Looks like this </>.

Wanted to bump this for same issue. Every ipv6 test I run indicates my home network is fine and a quick wireshark shows ipv6 traffic passing. Game will still only use ipv4 and load screens are increased when using ipv6. I’ve ran ipv6 for a couple years at home and never had this issue with WoW until recently.

Hi Folks

Blizzard is aware of this IPv6 problem. It is affecting other games as well. I haven’t seen anything more - they are working on it.

Same here, contacted the support and they are aware of the situation now … hopefully it’s gonna be fix soon cause i really need that ipv6 to counter the poor routing of my isp, it’s a 70 ms latency difference for me.

Been having this issue since Tuesday as well. SO thankful I found this thread, because I have been losing my mind over this!!! It’s not letting me on Rocket League servers either. My ticket is still open at the moment…

They have problems with IPv6 every so often. They usually fix it within a week or so.

I have noticed my Home Realm/Server/Shard Works perfectly fine with IPv6 when I first log in.

But normally after running an instance from then on out World is stuck on IPv4 yet home is still on Ipv6.

My IPv6 path has better latency as well, not much but better, hopefully they fix this soon.

Also note that MTR Test page does no good for IPv6 issues, its IPv4 only.

Is there any update concerning ipv6 and blizzard services ? thanks

Still getting kicked to IPv4 World here.

Nothing has changed and at my end it’s still messed up after almost 2 weeks and a promise it was getting fixed.
Update… Still not fixed as on 8/22.

Bumping this

Hi friends!

This is something on our radar on the Tech support team. Right now, we are wanting to gather a bit of data to help send a report up the chain.

We would need the following:

What you are seeing or details of the issue:
Date/time you first experienced the issue :
City and country :
ISP :
Trace Route (created whilst experiencing issue)

Pathping (created whilst experiencing issue)
WinMTR (created whilst experiencing issue)

Place all this in a preformatted field to make it easier to read.

Preformatted text instructions (click to expand)
  1. Paste the text in your reply.
  2. Highlight all of the text and click </> on the post editor.

Note: If things are not working with your post, post it on Pastebin and provide the numbers/letters after the .com in your reply.

We hope to have news soon my friend!

What you are seeing or details of the issue: If IPV6 is enabled, Game only loads in IPV4 with extremely slow load screens, random chaotic phasing in zones. If you turn off IPV6 no such issues. Checked with ISP and my os and it all is working fine with ipv6 including the ipv 6 test online.
Date/time you first experienced the issue :August 6 after hotfix was applied. Have even repaired files since in case it was an issue.
City and country : Oak Harbor, WA USA
ISP : xfinity /comcast

I deleted my home ip addresses

… Those tools ONLY test IPv4, test nothing of IPv6…

IPv6 is the problem…

How about some IPv6 Test Tools/IPs

Date and Time, Constantly after entering/leaving instances on this toons realm/server/cluster.

City Milledgeville, GA
IPv6 ISP HEnet (Tunnel)
IPv4 ISP Zito

Not sure exactly when this started, but have been having issues here as well. The game will lag for a while at the Logging into server stage. I only recently discovered it was due to IPv6. IPv4 seems to work just fine.

What you are seeing or details of the issue: Game stalls for about 15-20 seconds at Logging into server
Date/time you first experienced the issue: Not sure exactly, a few weeks ago.
City and country: Bonita Springs, FL, USA
ISP: Comcast/Xfinity

I ran Wireshark while launching to WoW to try and get an idea of what’s going on. It’s stalling out I think trying to talk to whatever server is at IP [2a04:e800:5010:3673:f816:4dff:fe86:6f72], failing the SYN with a bunch of re-transmissions. Pinging that address is fine.

I also ran WoW with Process Monitor running and it shows similar behavior. The game stalls trying to connect to that IP and eventually switches over to IPv4.

My other IPv6 connections are all fine.
