Long overdue. Since the End of MOP, all that has been done to classes was to destroy their classic identities. Even in Legion, which was all about Class Identity.
Hopefully, they bring back characteristic class abilities. For druids specifically, Insect Swarm, Faerie Fire, and Thorns (not as a PVP talent) are the ones that come to mind here. Getting rid of the Druid Affinities and baking those abilities into the Class Spec would be a benefit as well. So I can switch from Cat to Bear to Caster as needed in battle. We lost that over the years.
Hopefully, Class Identity means Class-based Tier Sets as well. The current raid armor has nothing to do with my class. It isn’t something that I would desire to collect the appearances from.
