Learn to pull large enough groups so the healer has something to do and it’ll be over before you know it.
I’ll never get Healers who don’t have a DPS or Tank off spec. I main a Mistweaver and I’d never do solo content or Islands in my heal spec. I love being able to do all three roles based on need and the content.
I agree that they should do something for the healers in these instances, maybe make stuff that has to be healed or something. I’ve not only been in IEs with 1 healer but with 2 healers and it just takes so long to do. I am not sure why there isn’t a system in place so that more than 1 cannot end up in the same IE.
Just my thoughts:
They would have to make healers a necessity in islands to make them viable (healers are strong in PvP and PvE for their job, which is to stay alive and keep people alive). If they made them a necessity it would make islands a pain.
I feel like the ideal situation would be the make Islands change depending on group composition. Like, if your group was a tank, DPS, and healer, the mobs would have moderate HP but deal very high damage. If you’re 2 DPS 1 heals, moderate-high HP mobs that deal moderate-high damage. 3 DPS, mobs don’t hit quite like utter bricks but have higher HP. Alternatively, they could be very high damage low HP. Just kind of a thought, since it doesn’t feel like these HAVE to be one-size-fits-all.
Healing is generally different in FFXIV though. A white mage spot heal will generally heal MOST of someone’s health. They don’t have to spend like 4 globals topping people up like say a RDruid or Mistweaver.
Ion has no idea what he is talking about TBH.
And ontop of that every healer can do immense damage in FF14 as well (maybe not Scholars but still great)
Only healer legitimately good is the Resto Druid who can use Balance Affinity for the boost, Resto Shamans were considered good back when they were outdpsing the Elemental Shamans which was just disgraceful.
Major issue with not taking healers is that EVERYONE can heal, Paladins, Druids are hybrids, Death Knights have defensives and god help you trying to kill a Blood one, Hunters and Warlocks not only use pets but can self heal! (yep thats right even hunters with leech passive and spirit beasts) so makes it feel like why bother? your gonna self heal anyway might as well do the damage better in the process.
IN the past 2 expansions, Ion has only completed 5167 world quests. He only has one BfA reputation to exalted.
I agreed on 2/3 there with him. I don’t agree with islands unless they really toned down the mechanics because pulling huge mobs used to give you a bunch of stuns and it is so pleasant as melee sitting there in the middle of other aoe damage being stunned.
And no one even notices healers on warfronts - there is lots of things that need to be done on those that don’t involve killing anyway.
Anytime they make content for your ‘holy trinity design’ they have to bribe healers and tanks to do it in order for dps not to wait in queue for hours. Making content that healers are ‘useless’ in is a small price to pay for the convenience of instants queues for the majority of the playerbase, i.e. dps and tanks.
He does his WQ in warmode.
Sure. But he doesn’t do many of them compared to other people.
5k is a fair number if he only plays one character.
Ion is a highly atypical player. He has fully mythic gear, so it should be easy for him. And he can certainly find someone to run with him whenever he does world content.
So I really think it’s not a fair comparison for him to make.
As a dk your probably somewhat tacky, it makes a difference, following say a hunter and mage around and hoping to heal is pointless.
Damage is almost all avoidable and you get healed to full constantly. I have not bathed to queue into a island since around week 3 of the expansion.
There is ilvl scaling so I am not so sure it is ‘easy’ for him but he didn’t always have full mythic gear to do these, so in this case I think he has done enough to know what he is talking about, you just don’t agree with him.
I know healers in game who do their world quests in healer spec and they say the same thing, only slightly slower.
Wait, you do realize that ilvl scaling stops at ~320ish right? No? Shocker. You also think it’s only slightly slower on a healer vs. a dps spec. Hell, I don’t agree that healers need a dps increase but those arguments are garbage.
Why would ilvl scaling stop at 320 ? The purpose of it was to stop people with high ilvl of gear from one shotting mobs.
Other people have said it is only slightly slower and they continue to do WQ as healers - that is fact. Now if you want to say your opinion is somehow better than theirs that is another story.
Because that’s the upper limit to ilvl scaling that Blizzard put in place. They’ve explained this in the Q&A’s repeatedly closer to the launch when people were freaking out about ilvl scaling. Whether people continue to do WQ’s as a healer isn’t relevant. Doing half the damage means that on average it’s going to take a healer twice the duration to do a world quest. There’s some variance there based upon whether there are lots of other people doing the quests that they can drop hots onto or whatnot but that also advantages dps about the same. So we’re clear here, I actually agree with your position, I just think your argument is based on garbage logic. And you continue that here. No one cares about your anecdotal claims about other healers. No one cares about the subjective descriptor you use to describe how much time it takes healers to do world quests. I do find your use of fallacies entertaining though.
So a tank’s self healing can be greater than a healer’s self healing but healer’s damage can’t even be on par with a DPS or even a tank for that matter.
