Ion lied again

Shocking I know.

For those who don’t know: tomorrow night the Rising Mists talent for mistweaver monks will be nerfed into the ground.

In 8.3 this talent was buffed, making the use of rising sun kick extend the duration of Hots by 4 seconds, up from 2.

Now it’s being reduced to 2 again. Making the talent completely worthless once again and killing the viability of fistweaving as a monk.

Now there needed to be a nerf. But this is going way to far. Glimmer wasn’t hit this hard. Monks should have gotten the same target cap for enveloping mists (the source of the problem behind this nerf).

Instead the entire build is being deleted.

Where is the lie you ask? Well repeatedly in recent interviews Ion has talked about respecting the time investment into gearing made by players.

Well this nerf goes against that in its entirety.

Simply put for this build to work you had to stack haste, and a lot of it. Not to mention specific corruptions (the one that reduces cooldowns).

That time is now completely wasted. Simply put: for literally any other mistweaving build haste is the worst stat by a mile.

So now a lot of monks are going to be left with a spec that doesn’t work, gear that doesn’t work for the specs that still do, and god only knows how much regret for items they passed on or corruptions they cleansed.

Good job Ion. Good freaking job.

Good. Im glad Monks got a nerf. They needed it.

They needed a nerf. But not like this. Your class didnt get hit this hard when glimmer was at the peak of its OPness.

You’re so damn… well I wont say what I want to say, because these forums are too sensitive.

Imagine thinking that a balance change to one abilitiy is a contradiction to saying we want time invested into gear to matter.

Literally what? what?!

They’re such irrelevant statements to one another there’s literally no way to even compare the scenarios…?

I am beyond confused as to where your mind is at on this subject.

Why is it being done? I’ll say what I said in the main thread:

Explain to me on any logical plane, how this makes sense as an OKAY healing log for Mythic N’zoth.

EDIT: The ENTIRE intent behind fistweaving is to make it optional. It’s why it got changed shortly after being added because people made it mandatory in MoP and WoD. This talent as it stands is making it mandatory again, on top of having to grind insane haste gear.

When a balance change destroys an entire build (and this will) when more moderate changes that would have reigned in the extremes while still keeping the build intact, and that change basically throws out all the gear you’ve focussed on for the last three months because it depends on a haste/ineffable truth build of gear which is useless for literally every other mistweaver build.

I gotta feel bad for Ion. He gets blamed for absolutely every decision that goes into this game, whether or not it was even his. That has to be rough.

And as at least 50 people in that thread pointed out: a target cap on enveloping mists, similar to what happened to glimmer of light, would have fixed it without destroying build, and wasting the time peolpe spent obtaining very specific gear and corruptions.

Well, that’s your own fault for building around a single ability that was known to be OP.

You’re mad because your spec got balanced.

You just want them to never balance specs because oh no, it’ll upset people currently playing it?

A little bit of common sense is assumed on behalf of the player when someone like Ion makes a statement.

He was referring to time = rewards. Not that time invested = no nerfs.

Ions a good dev.

WoW has and will always blame the guy.

He didn’t say he’d respect players who gear and build intentionally to use a broken exploit.

Fixing exploitative builds is not disrespecting player time investments.

Your reading of the quote would stop basically any changes ever.

I don’t play a monk. I just feel bad for them.

I want them to balance, not completely destroy.

Except in his recent interview with sloot when he specifically said they have left infinite stars alone because of how hard people have gone after it, the time they spent chasing it, the other corruptions they cleansed to be able to use it.

Not sure what it is because I stopped caring a bit ago what they nerf…I’ll just stop playing any of my characters they trash until they make it fun again, lol
That said…reason number 8394 why I will never main another character in this game.
Bliz gets a sadistic kick out of getting our class into decent place only to trash them again next Tuesday.
No thanks.
That crap was precisly why I took almost every class in the game into BFA so I wouldnt have to worry about one or the other.
Heh…well, then I found out they fixed that little problem by making BFA horrible for alts.
So now we’re in ‘fool me twice’ territory. Wont happen again.
I’ll take druid and probably shaman into SL’s and if it sucks I just wont play it AT ALL this time around till the very end when I can use catch up crap to get geared and call it good.

Ok what did he lie about and in what context?

When the “fix” destroys that build entirely, when other options existed that would reign in the extremes while still leaving the build viable… Yes, it is disrespecting the time of the thousands of players whi have been gearing for this build since January.

Getting mad on behalf of other people who themselves are not mad is one of the most obnoxious things people can do.

They didn’t. They balanced it and now you’re mad about a hypothetical situation.
And sometimes balancing something requires a hammer.

The entire corruption system is unbalanced garbage.
Just because they messed that up, doesn’t mean they shouldn’t make the correct decision elsewhere because they don’t want people to get upset.
Infinite stars absolutely needs nerfing. As does this Monk build.

And the main point;
Corruptions are RNG.
A spec build is absolute and obtained instantly.

if you don’t mind, could you provide a link to said interview? very interested in this

Most monks are pretty mad right now that their gear is now going to be worthless for the healing style they will be forced to play now. If they can even get a raid spot now.

This didnt require a hammer. This could have been fixed the same way glimmer was. With a target cap.
