It’s more-so that someone like that, who doesn’t really have that sort of “creative passion”, is running a billion-dollar IP.
yeah nice try Ion
This for best answer
You don’t have to be the creative person to manage the group. You just need the creative people working for you and then you help them succeed.
The needs of the hardcore raid community
Are you kidding? Taking Masterloot away from the raiders and spammable M+ dropping raid loot (both to the delight of GD) is “in touch with the needs of the hardcore raid community” ???
Well when it comes to game directors
My inspiration is Hidetaka Miyazaki
His games are an art ![]()
He might be a good guy, but the game sucks under his leadership. For anyone that’s not a mythic raiding carry seller anyways.
Dragon flying genuinely looks fun though. I wouldn’t mind it replacing flying for that continent, but I know others don’t feel the same.
He really does not seem like a bad guy, not even IRL. I did meet him face to face and he was quite nice, even though it was a very brief chat.
Manipulative people are most of the time nice, if they can sway you over.
I remember when Ion called any player who wasn’t doing M+ endgame content unimportant.
I think he’s very intelligent and a great developer.
IQ very often doesnt = meaningful experience / education.
He’s intelligent, yet actually believed he could remove flight from WoW and no one would notice…or care.
intelligent?
maybe.
smart?
given his absolutely clownish mistakes and doubling down on them…not so much
I just spit out my drink. ![]()

lol. I never saw that one.
if true…lines up perfectly with my previous comment

jesus…that sounds like my exwife and my wifes brothers ex wife to the letter.
they expendenormous energy luring you into thinking they are ‘nice’…
Familiarity breeds contempt is the life motto of many of that sort.
Once youre roped in, they dont care to do and say thing that would make satan himself cringe, lol
Did he really say that him and the team were pleased with this expansion? I felt it was worse than WoD, and they didn’t even finish WoD.
Ion got a chance to talk to one of the most WoW-positive and successful raiders around and have a generally positive audience.
I may be suspicious of the man, but on a basic human level knowing you have a non-hostile audience can put one at ease.
Their words indicate they are in touch with the player base.
Their actions say otherwise.
They’re getting better at saying the right things, which is what people need to hear. The extent to which they will carry through is yet to be seen.
They did a season 4 experiment that resulted in a massive number of players leaving, so bad they had to give away the current expansion to anyone who hadn’t bought it but might play, suggests they need to stop experimenting on the playerbase and do some real advance research for a change.
It’s bizarre to me that people think he is not allowed to consume the game in the way he wants, or even consume it at all.
He’s a lifetime raid logger. He can play how he wants (which was being carried by his guild up until he quit playing altogether). I see no sign he is able to understand how and why people play the game, or even wants to know.

That doesn’t seem to be working, though. It’s like the people who don’t value a lot of the game and don’t care what customers think hired other people who agree with them. Their number has reached critical mass, and the people who do care about those things have left to find other jobs.

They don’t understand any part of the community, including the ones they think they are catering to.
Did he really say that him and the team were pleased with this expansion?
I recall him saying something like that.
They can’t admit that they have made mistakes or even misjudgments. “We missed the mark on [that failure], but we learned from it,” is as close as they got.
Nah, he did some things I didn’t like. I think he has a low IQ now, poor clothing choices, and honestly if I saw him in the street I’d probably throw a gummy bear at him.
I actually think he seems happy now. Maybe it’s because of the feedback, or that this is a passion project.
Please link it! I would love to hear his thoughts on the current group of “Doctorial Candidates” running Blizzard!
I also really hope he fires Bobby Koteck!!
