I love when you so called adults make up fake nonsense to say they lied when they didn’t LOL
Case in point: Me.
I “left” like three times. I have friends I love playing with and I mainly RP, so playing WoW is a social thing.
I could never truly leave, but I don’t mind that. I just take long breaks and play other games in between work and relationships.
Make sense please. ez ignore
love you
Tell a friend you planned to go to the park after work
Starts raining at the end of work so you call friend to tell them you are going home
Friend says OMG YOU LIED!!!
Brilliant guy
The word aesthetic is not defined in relation to “combat advantages”.
Nonetheless, if I have a raidframe that is showing a buff, it is well within the realms of aesthetics to say I want that to show as a purple colour, not as the buff icon.
Again, where are you getting your definition of aesthetic from?
Also, this whole idea of “combat advantage” is just bizarre to me. It’s largely a co-operative game. What am I going to do with my “advantage”? Help my raid kill the boss more quickly?
Regardless, certainly just being able to display a piece of information that is already available, in a slightly different way, is not something I’d call a “combat advantage”. Icon or colour, what’s the difference?
Similar to what you’re doing with ‘aesthetic’?
Who is to say they’re just going to stop at the aesthetic? That’s one point they were making in the video. You give people an inch, they’ll want a mile.
The nuance in this topic.
So my understanding of the new paradigm is that you won’t be able to tell what it is from the addon. You’ll be able to “put my debuffs here and make them this size or even turn them”, whatever. But the addon can’t tell what the debuffs are. So coloring the plate is off the table, unless that’s added to the base UI. This is very similar to the way the hidden aura frame worked. As soon as ad addon can tell what debuff you have, it can assign players to deal with it. And that is what needs to be broken.
There’s a lot of room between “doesn’t do what I want” and “is impossible”. So, IF blizzard wants you to be able to filter debuffs down, then what they’d do is have buff/debuff categories and you’d set those properties based on that. That said, it’s my understanding that blizzard doesn’t want you to need to track buffs/debuffs that closely.
But I think that’s a reasonable ask.
“Roll everything back” is not a reasonable ask.
No. Lying doesn’t mean there is malevolence.
But I also don’t believe they’re that incompetent.
I will literally base jump into a flea market portapotty before I play this game for even 5 seconds without a customizable party frame addon. It’s not negotiable.
From a healing standpoint, this just seems all sorts of suspicious to me (in regards to the devs’ position, not your own).
As I said in another thread yesterday as an example: what exactly do they intend to do in regards to healers dispelling debuffs? Are we meant to sit down and memorize the names/icons of every single debuff in a dungeon, and which are and are not dispellable on our class? So I need to sit down with flashcards at the beginning of each season and drill myself on whether or not I should spend a GCD on dispelling Icon A, but not Icon B, C, or D (because my class doesn’t dispel those)? But then that means I also have to memorize a secondary set of flashcards for my alt priest, and my alt shaman. Great, sounds like a blast.
But let’s say they don’t want us to do that. Let’s say they really want to dig into this concept of making information available to us on the battlefield. What is their plan here, then? They want to make poisons become giant spurting green goo effects on individual player models? So now I need to, on top of managing spell effects, health bars, swirlies, mechanics, and enemy cast bars, also take time to track each individual player model to see what kind of spell effect is going off on them in the chaos of battle?
And if that is the answer, and they want to reduce 99% of the battle chaos … what exactly is the plan for making this interesting combat? Are we all going to stand in a line, unmoving, with no particle effects on the ground or on the boss spells except when it’s something a healer is meant to shield, dispel, or external you through? Because that sounds equally atrocious.
“Your health bar turns a different color when you have a dispellable debuff” might sound like cheating to the devs, but I cannot understand how they expect to give us a functional alternative that does not make combat boring and also does not involve healers having to study up like we’re prepping for the SATs every time we start a new rotation of dungeons. I am happy to remember when one debuff in a dungeon has a special interaction and we don’t dispel it until the tank needs to move or the bombs need to get blown up, but asking me to memorize every iteration of debuffs in every dungeon sounds insane – and simply deleting debuffs from dungeons sounds boring lol.
I could call a WeakAura that shows a Fury warrior’s critical strike bonus on one ability “aesthetic” all I want. It doesn’t change the fact that someone who has that WeakAura is at an advantage over someone who doesn’t. The player without it is forced to guess and spend extra mental effort to track something the addon shows clearly.
You’re being deliberately obtuse. You know exactly how much of an edge so called “aesthetic” WeakAuras give compared to not having them.
Literally even the WA creators themselves admit to this fact. Why can’t you?
This is MicroBlizz. If you continue to believe in anything they say and/or make assumptions about what they say, you will always be disappointed.
I’ve never seen them deliver on any feature exactly as described. They deliver it but with excuses as to why it is either broken, fewer features, or not working “as intended”.
The pruning and addons will be no different.
I’m hoping that housing turns out well, but I’m not holding my breath.
Set the bar low and expect nothing.
So what do you think is the better answer? All warriors should have to spend extra mental effort tracking an uninteresting mechanical interaction? Or all uninteresting mechanical interactions should be removed since Blizzard doesn’t really feel like providing everyone a default UI method of tracking this information?
Because the latter is what’s happening, and I don’t know about you, but I don’t actually find that to be a design philosophy worth boasting about. “We can’t make it work on the default UI so we’re just gutting your class to compensate” is coming up more and more often right now.
The odds of me resubbing are getting lower and lower as time goes on. If bars can’t change color for a debuff how the hell are you even supposed to know there is one?
I’m gonna ride out my last 3 months, but unless there are massive changes made I’m not staying for Midnight. I didn’t preorder and am currently unsubbed with 3 months of time left.
When is Midnight due out again? I don’t remember
Any reasonable person would say, let’s change the game so everyone playing doesn’t have to rely on an addon to shoulder the burden of that mental load, and a fury warrior doesn’t have to manually track the crit % on one ability alongside everything else happening in combat.
Idk why you are being insane and unreasonable just because your beloved addons are being removed.
If you actually listened to everything the WA devs say, not just the things that comfirm your biases for keeping WA’s, they are actually in agreement that things like this should be removed.
Nobody knows for sure but after the end of Legion Remix so minimum 4 months.
You mean like how resto druid is losing the ability to put two lifeblooms on people, as a capstone talent, because the devs said they literally cannot make our HoTs show up functionally on their default UI?
Even though our HoTs have been showing up functionally on custom UIs for decades?
Tell me more about how unreasonable I’m being, saying this is a poor design philosophy. “We cannot make it work, so we’re changing it” even though it has been working just fine via the efforts of volunteer programmers for all this time.
Yea I was thinking like 1st quarter of 2026 – very doubtful they will do housing, pruning, new XPAC and addons well – that is a huge lift, and they’ve never been known for stellar performance on delivery.
They even admitted they have been heads down w/housing alone. I guess time will tell - hopefully I am wrong.
Sure, Jan.
Keep telling yourself that.
