Look up Inner Speech: Development, Cognitive Functions, Phenomenology, and Neurobiology
Where TF do you get this from??? Have you taken a poll of all mythic raiders?
Have you read Inner Speech: Development, Cognitive Functions, Phenomenology, and Neurobiology by Ben Alderson-Day and Charles Fernyhough yet?
In case people donāt know what the clueless OP is talking about. He is only clueless in his assertion about how this affects WoW players.

I have a constant flow of internal monologue. I suppose I basically talk to myself in my head. I think that article or study or whatever it was you read isnāt wrong in some ways. I couldnāt tell you how many times I get distracted because I canāt shut myself up in my head while my wife is trying to tell me something. Iāll still hear her, but I itll be at the back of my mind.
Still, I do not keyboard turn or click. I havenāt done that since BC launched and I discovered keybinds.
I know exactly what you are talking about and know it is a real thing. What I take issue with is you deciding you know what categories various WoW players fall into.
I donāt know what OP is talking about but I was playing McCree on Overwatch (heās a cowboy w/6 shooter gun) and someone shot me from behind, I spun around, locked onto them and stunned them and killed them. After that I thought about how interesting it is how fast players can both acquire information and react to stimulation. Have you guys ever thought about that?
No they just want to flame me. Which is u fortunate because Iām just trying to start a dialogue about an interesting phenomenon.
I think itās a very interesting topic. Iāve periodically wondered if other people talk to themselves internally like I tend to, or if itās a result of an overactive mind.
But did you read the research? Iām not talking about anecdotal accounts, but actual scientific research.

I found that a lot people who donāt want to raid are afraid for some reason. Itās almost like they fear dying in a video game a few times until they get the mechanics down.
The inner dialogue thing sounds interesting. New concept to why some people in the world are⦠behind. But new concepts get a lot of criticism. People doubt because they feel personally attacked, even though this doesnāt seem to be the intention.
-
Keybinds are simply muscle memory, rotation wise. Itās mindless.
-
Keybinds help make decisions quicker.
Which one are you?
I keyboard turn and click. Never claimed to be an elite mythic raider.
This is what it is. On the toons I play the most I donāt even think about the rotation because Iām so used to it. On specs I play less I have to actively think about the abilities to hit next. Is that internal monologuing? I guess so but itās more to do with muscle memory.
As an aside, I just cringe any time I see someone do a complete 180° turn or back peddle out of bad stuff in my raid.
study links if youāre going to cite them!
The voices in my head never stop unless i make a serious effort, and even then its only for a few seconds.
I use mostly keybinds and mouse over macros and wasd to move, but still click a few abilitys. When standing in fire use a or d to side step. I dont even know what ākeyboard turningā means.
Didnāt say you were
Oh to be in the room of the recipient and able to see their face when that shows up.
My friend calls me a āWeird hybridā because while she uses macros, I can click, watch enemies, and dodge attacks at the same time. I never understood this notion that people who click have their eyes affixed to the hot-bar for an entire fight. I can see which abilities are off cool-down from the corner of my eye when they flash and I know where everything on my bar so I never have a problem playing in mythic dungeons or raids as a clicker.
those recent studies sound a lot like gokuās ultra instict, are you a saiyan?
Exactly what it sounds like. Using the a/d or <-/-> keys to turn your character. Instead of just swiveling your mouse around to the direction you want to move.
