Interdependence Disparity in MoP remix

It’s a tale as old as time: There are multiple classes in WoW built around the interdependence of team play. Glass cannons and dedicated, less-combtive healers play a completely different game in some settings from self-healing tanks and “my pet is an entirely second party member by virtue of my spec concept” classes. It’s not going to go away, these are conceptually ingrained in the classes by now. Hell, I’d argue that trying to fix it would be a serious blow to the subscriber base, but like… man… in a limited time event pushing open world questing, scenarios and other content where these disparities will be glaring, in a “speedrun” setting, all the “my boots have another class’ movement skills” powers in the world won’t make up for the fact that some classes/spec just… need someone to hide behind or to kill things for them, and others can pull the zone.

“But we’re getting god level gear” you might say. Ok, so yeah, some “dependent” classes might feel like how “independent” classes feel in this sort of “class agnostic” setting without that gear, while giving the same gear level to said “independent classes” will make them entire pantheons of gods just on their own.

I’m not asking for a fix, I’m just saying, as an “alt of every spec” player, I’m telling you, this is about to get really interesting on this axis.

I intentionally left out class/spec names in this post because inevitably some specialist of “a dependent class” is gonna say “rawr I’m an open world/scenario god in any gear,” and maybe they are… but they’re running with weights on next to the “independent classes.” I guarantee you.

I’m not sure I understand the problem here. We can run with friends, we got through Torghast just fine, the powers give heals, defensives and dps.

Where’s the issue?

The more I see of the event from datamining and testing, the more I think it’s going to last at least a month but possibly two months after 10.2.7 actually goes live (which would, coincidentally, take it up to TWW’s pre-patch release). I think all the talk of “FOMO, speedrunning, etc” is blowing these things out of proportion. Everyone will have enough time, regardless of how they want to play.

You level insanely fast, the achievements aren’t that difficult to get and the ensembles on the vendor can be learned by anyone to unlock account wide. They didn’t make this difficult. They did the opposite.
