Instead of 2-trink bonus, just scale PVP gear in PVP

I think Stoopz nailed it when he said the easiest fix would be to scale PVP gear higher in PVP, WOD style.

That way, you could PVE in PVP gear, at a disadvantage but still doable.
You could PVP in PVE gear, at a disadvantage but still doable.

No need for adding a PVP stat, and it makes PVP gear best for PVP. Seems a lot easier to balance than re-adding resilience or PVP power. A lot of people have opined about their issues with the 2-trinket bonus.

If i’m going to have to grind for weeks for honor gear that’s less ilvl than gear I could get from one 3-hour raid, at least make that honor gear scale better than said PVE gear in arenas and BGS.

Thoughts?

While i agree with you they 100% said they want PvErs to get value out of their gear in PvP. Hence why they refuse that option.

And PVEers should get value out of their gear. It doesn’t feel good to have your gear be virtually useless in one area of the game. It also makes PVP more accessible for new players and PVE players, which is always a huge plus.

I don’t like WoD gear, it felt jarring to have stats fluctuate and change mid combat. At least with the 2 trinket bonus, it’s just verse that’s changing. That’s something that is a lot more manageable.

Realistically, the 2 trinket set bonus is the PERFECT solution and Blizzard has once again knocked the ball out of the park.

Easy fix the stats are always active in warmode. So now you don’t need to be jarred. Also your point is laughable because the WOD system heavily favors new players because it allows a item level ceiling that is very accessible as opposed to the many varying PVE item levels we will be seeing.

Stats shouldn’t be fluctuating to that degree to begin with. This is an MMO RPG.

On a philosophical level, from a game design perspective, I reject anything like WoD scaling.

PvP gear being stronger in PVP is not anti-mmo you’re just throwing out words hoping they mean anything. Also as I said before the WOD system is more accessible and better for every player group except for mythic raiders who want a huge advantage.

It’s a good thing I didn’t say that then. I said wild stat flucations that are contingent on the content you’re running is anti MMO RPG.

I’ll bite explain how then.

What does this have to do with anything? Not entirely sure any of you have ever actually played an rpg.

Gear in an rpg was to be an augmentation of your strength, not the source of your strength

Fluctuating stats and scaling gear are the ANTITHESIS of MMO RPGs.

not even close abomb

That’s great and all but they have had pvp scaling all of bfa and it continues in SL. If they are gonna scale either way might as well put it on pvp gear so the scaling is more controlled and not whacky like it currently is allowing weird one shot mechanics and punishing people who have sockets.

Is it better that the scaling is opaque and hidden from players like in BfA and SL? Or is it better that is in plain sight (written right on the gear) like in WoD?

You also said pvp gearing was fine even before blizzard announced the trinket bonuses. And you also said you only use one set of gear for both PVE and PVP and stat differences don’t matter for 99% of players.

Seems like an odd crusade you are on here. Does your dad work at Blizzard?

The trinkets in SL tell you exactly how much verse it will give you, so I don’t consider that opaque.

The BFA scaling isn’t really comparable, it’s only noticeable when there’s a huge disparity in gear. Heaven forbid I can’t one shot another player with reaping flames!!

And I stand by these statements. I was able to push for high duelist without even caring about my gear. It was only until my Glad push that I had to start caring about it again.

So how is that different then WoD Ilvl boost again? Why is it ok for trinket bonuses and not the rest of the gear?

Also there is the other overall scaling happening in BfA and SL that is absolutely opaque.

is going into slands too

BFA scaling isn’t remotely comparable to WoD scaling, that’s a textbook apples-to-oranges comparison my friend. BFA doesn’t scale stats, it just scales damage, and as I said before, which you conveniently ignored:

Right. Stuff like this is definitely better and less impactful than wod pvp gear scaling https://youtu.be/wxUpwgNFjvw
