Well imagine being someone who deals with prejudice in real life, then logging in and dealing with people being nasty over what you chose to play on a vidya game… Especially when you’re already having a bad day. It could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.
Eh idk the ugh… “fictional racism” I’ve discovered in this game is just mild taunting… punting gnomes, Barbie blood elves, steak cow. Pretty harmless but I guess that’s just my opinion. I agree with some of the above posters the racism invokes conflict so you got gnomes really prideful of being gnomes and will fight anyone that wants a piece. I enjoy it sometimes honestly

Racism is one of the the most central themes of WoW, probably second to War. If someone is that sensitive I would suggest avoiding this series.

I’ve seen stuff that is a lot more caustic than that, people making jokes about things not mentionable on the forums, people completely dismissing someone’s thoughts and contributions to a discussion unironically due to vidya game race choice. I’ve seen people personally attacked, told they are inferior in writing skills and creativity (on rp servers) because of vidya race choice, again unironically.
Yeah that’s not acceptable at all, I don’t rp so I don’t see it often in a hostile manner. Sad to hear that’s occuring. Some people have miserable lives and take it out on others and that’s not cool
Like when people used to say oh it’s a blood elf paladin, only now lately it’s a human paladin, and they dismiss the thread Sometimes they are trolling but other times probably not.
Well the other stereotype is Orc or Dwarf warrior, will most likely hate on elves.

On the forum for the realm I play on, it seems like every bad take comes from a male orc, usually warrior, though shaman/hunter also happen.
