how do i UN ancor the info box to mouse location. for some reason it changed back to ancor to mouse and i want it off my mouse location when i hover over a item
very annoying all of a sudden any time i hover over gear or stuff in bag its on mouse location how do it this crap off blizzard broke?
also turned off ALL addons and still does it so its clearly something on blizzards end
As far as I can find, this is caused by a tooltip type addon, normally should anchor to one of the corners.
I thought anchoring to your mouse was the default behavior?
I use Tiptac add-on to move the hover to the bottom right of the screen.

If you’re referring to the gear compare, that was changed to function on hover instead of having to hold down shift.
The command posted here can fix that.

I edited in a command that lets you hold the shift on hover for hear compare.
As for general tooltips, I thought it was always noise anchored by default in game. I use the add-on Tiptac to move that. You might give it a try.
It’s possible an old add-on you had was doing this and now it no longer works.

For equipment compare (when enabled), it is. For the loot panel, it requires enabling it in the preferences as the loot panel is static by default.
@OP: A screenshot would really help us here. This way we can see what behaviour you’re talking about. If you do not have trust level 3 currently you can encase the entire link inside two ` grave accents like so:

Equipment compare has always operated that way. Only an addon can change the location in which equipment compare popups are located. It makes sense to have the default be at the mouse cursor since your mouse is pointing at the gear being compared.
nope using Shift is how you use to do it, mousing over items in bag or on vendor HAS NEVER ancord to mouse like this before
Read the command edit above by Jeysca. It shows exactly how to disable equipment compare. It’s a very simple console command.
good thing i already did that too and that has nothing to do with the issue of items, junk items you cant even wear lol ancoring to mouse, tell me how you wear a paper or note as a gear peace? id love to see how that looks on a toon lol…this is talking about items junk items items you eat items you toss to trash bc its pointless to have and taking up space
Again, item descriptions (the popups) have always been anchored at the mouse. I’ve been playing the game since the early FaF alpha in 2003. One of your addons was likely preventing some of that behaviour from occuring and has been updated to no longer do so (or its function was deprecated). Again, a screenshot would be helpful since it could show exactly what is being shown (especially for non-equipment items). That would allow us to narrow down your issue.
no they have not, not until recently if never had info like this ANCOR to mouse hoving over items in bag or on vendor…its always WENT to the hud display location of info
If you have any screenshots of the previous behaviour, please share them alongside a screenshot of how it’s working for you now. We can’t really help if you aren’t willing to show us the relevant information.
not much a screen shot is going to do…its going to show what im talking about… I DO NOT WANT THIS STUPID GAME INFO OF ITEMS WHERE my mouse is! i want it BACK to HUD display area like it use to be and yes im pissed bc this crap is blocking 99999999999 of my screen when im at a vendor or hoving over a gray useless item in my bag

You keep mentioning the HUD, but are not providing any actual info showing us what you’re referring to. We don’t know where in the base HUD it used to show up for you, which is why we need a screenshot. Or if you don’t have a screenshot available, take a screenshot of the current behaviour and use MS Paint (or equivalent) to draw an arrow pointing us to where you are expecting the description popups to appear.

Um, yes, it’s always defaulted to being anchored to the mouse. The only way to alter this is with an addon (which one of yours was previously doing but is no longer doing so). Item tooltips have always been at the mouse except for NPC tooltips. Those appear at the bottom right of the screen by default, but can also be moved with certain addons. The only time they weren’t anchored to the mouse is when you clicked on them manually (e.g. in a chat link). Then their own window would pop up at the bottom center of the screen, or if you had used an addon to configure its location, wherever you set it to.
Only an addon can change where tooltips show up. If you’d actually start providing some of what we’re asking for we could begin properly diagnosing your issue. That way once we figure out what changed, we can (hopefully) also figure out where to get you back to what you’re expecting.
no items and stuff on vendors has never been stuck to mouse its alwasy gone to my HUD location…unless the addon i used has DIED and no longer working and it was doing it other wise it has always gone to HUD location…and if it was addon then someone needs to make a new addon to make items on vendors and bags to back to hud location
