The majority of players don’t have time to spam m+. This is designed for the 5% and punishes the rest. M+ needs to be more rewarding, it’s an absolute joke right now.
I hope this isn’t everything. These changes alone are a slap in the face.
Blizzard has yet to understand time is money! How do you propose to have people to play your game where there is no reward for your subscription and time! You should always have the player rewarded for completing hard task in your game, because if you don’t people will just stop playing. Don’t have to give free items but have alt route to high lvl items that all can progress to obtain, NO RNG and wired stat combos that does not befit the spec, just a solid progression path is that too much to ask?
I think you might be being insensitive to the excruciating decision process they probably had to go through to do this.
There was probably a lot of back of the envelope calculations on how much quicker we might be able to buy everything that costs anima and how much it would cost them to make more items we could buy. The collecting process was probably meant to last a couple years and lowering that to six months could cause office anarchy at blizzard HQ.
This is a perfect characterization of our current dilemma! Getting gear from PVP is simple and rewards your time, raiding is a giant slap in the face. Progressing in mythic just to finally get a kill and then see 3 cloaks drop is the most unrewarded experience I have ever had in wow. People love to compare this to vanilla, well, news flash: this is not vanilla! Leave that bull s@#! in classic, I/we play retail for a reason.
Bluzzard, get your crap together.
Mere scraps upon scraps.
Which is strange, I have items in the world everywhere that I don’t need but can’t get a drop in Mythic + World or Raid!?
It already rewards you with mythic raid-ish loot for failing it - and you can spam repeat it as much as you like 24/7.
You know what a raid gives you for failing? Nothing. At all. Not even a welfare great vault item. And even if you clear it, the great vault items from the raid aren’t welfare-boosted ilvl either.
All up, M+ gearing is fine and probably still too rewarding compared to raiding.
That’s because it is.
Like others have pointed out, a +10 will give less anima than rare daily quests despite being significantly more difficult and time-consuming.
Right now PvP gives more consistent, useful loot than PvE does.
This is wrong in many, many, many ways. I mean, we learned this lesson back in TBC because we had the exact same problem. So unless you’re going to somehow prevent PvP items from being used in PvE almost at all, the devs have to fix the disparity somehow and make PvE rewarding again.
Basically, the devs forgot their WoW history, and now we’re repeating it. Only it’s worse than TBC ever was because at least back then loot dropped.
People doing heroic amd mythic raids dont care about this…
Player complaint: I downed 200 bosses and all I got from some of them was 35 anima…
Implication: They should drop more loot, not just anima.
Blizzard’s inference: players should get more anima from bosses.
This is what happened. Necessary conclusion - the developers are objectively stupid.
Even in Classic you could target the item you where after and once learned the mechanics where not as hard as current retail.
Buffing anima when we dont really care to really collect it, some reason there is anima drought or something due to the lore of shadowlands, yet the anima has nothing to really do with progressing in the expansion, im glad its not artifact power or azerite power and has to be grinded for tons of player power, but it would be nice if it did more than few cosmetics and all the buildings are heavy time gated by souls. best thing offered is the ability to hearth to your cov an travel to oribos once you build rank 3 of transport network, yet there is no portal in oribos back to your covenant lol.
Yeah you jump to fix the crappy anima but legacy raids are still broken. GG.
I deal with this exact situation IRL every day. I’m not being insensitive because I know (and live) what they are doing in my RL job.
They have upset customers. They have enough that they actually need to make a major change. Management needs to see that they’re “doing something”.
They can either pay now or pay later. And they’ve chosen later. Again.
Unfortunately, they don’t get many “later”. The customers are going to start canceling orders (subs) and spreading the information on how bad the product/service/company is. Which will snowball.
“Later” they’ll have to pay more to fix anything with the customers. They wait too long, there won’t be a later.
If you thought this was the solution, then you didn’t understand the problem.
Wut? I know its not your fault or anything you can fix but it really does feel like a slap in the face when almost the entire community says “the reason we don’t do dungeons is because loot doesn’t drop, when it does the ilvl doesn’t reflect the difficulty of the content, and getting 30 anima instead is insulting.”
And what bliz took away from that was to add an insignificant amount of anima.
Again we know its not your fault as a community manager, but it does feel like the game director is just doing things to spite the players, because they told us something was supposed to be fun and we disagreed. So instead of listening they insult us.
Good. But not enough. You still only get 35 anima for m0 and m2-7? lolwhat.
Also, you need to buff the world quest anima reward.
There’s no reason any world quest should give 35 anima with how long world quests take now.
100% of the game “goodies” are gated behind obscene amounts of anima and don’t get me started on the other currency that only comes from rares or certain daily quests.
You need to stop creating this kind of systems. Or either give players enough currency so it doesnt feel incredible lame and almost impossible to reach.
When are you ACTUALLY increasing the anima rewards on the ENTIRE game? 9.2? 9.3?
I hate the anima grind so much.
If you fall behind it’s quite painful.
If you play alts it’s quite a time sink.
If you want to explore all covenant stories you are punished. This game sucks unless you play one character only. I hate that all the cosmetic bits are bound behind the anima grind.
These disincentives made me stop playing retail and focus on classic again. I still raid with my kid or run an occasional mythic+ but to the maw with this mobile-engagement-model grind. I am sure it’s only a matter of time for anima to show up in the shop.
No it does not give you mythic raid level gear. The vault does. The end of dungeon chest MIGHT have a 210 piece in it. End of dungeon loot doesn’t even reach heroic raid ilvls.
They need to revamp m+ general to stretch over 0 to +20 and a +20 would have 220 gear at end of dungeon and you could reach the ilvl cap of 232 out of the vault like you can with mythic raiding and rated pvp. You can’t even reach the ilvl cap without pvp or mythic raiding atm.
