Just counted, I have 40/50 right now. 29 on my current connected realms, the rest is a smattering of oddballs from over the years…the little hunter I got the Wrecking Ball achieve on years ago, there’s a char from my very first realm, Vashj. The pink-haired gnome I use for the Running event, a rando on Tichondrius with 20,000 gold and I don’t really remember how, etc…
So for various reasons, I’d rather not delete any of these, and once in awhile one just feels like playing for a little bit on a brand-new server and derping around for a little bit. I think upping the cap to 75 would be nice.
I do believe that Blizzard themselves has proved you quite incorrect.
This is another place where there was a race, High Elves, in the game which hadn’t really been represented on player characters. Blood Elves were the closest, but had felt green eyes. It was an opportunity where we had a number of elven races, and we could tie it back to their roots, letting players choose where they want to align and what fantasy to play out. We did have a lot of discussion about it, ultimately we might do more in the future, but for now we’re providing the option to have a few High Elf customizations available.

As there are many departments that do work on different things, this is not the way that such matters work. The technical server department does not work on gameplay development.
Nor is there anything that needs done to implement such a thing, aside from a small code change, because the server space already exists. If it did not, they would not allow five licenses on one Battlenet account.

Even the quote you posted said, “we want players to be able to PLAY OUT their fantasy”, AKA, roleplay. You can ROLEPLAY as a HE, but it’s still a VE within the canonical game until HE’s are either an allied/new race altogether.

50 toons on an MMO is more than enough. Plain and simple. You have a problem with that, then you have a problem.
Why is that your business? I happily leveled a main and 11 alts in Legion for “A Legendary Campaign” FoS, and had 12 chars rolling the mission tables night & day. Then in BfA, had to unlock and play the new races.
Sometimes it is also fun to try out a spec of class you never played much or at all and go thru content (with Chromie-time, you don’t have to do everything, thankfully) again.
I don’t know why people have to be so mean about gatekeeping the amount of characters people should play, just because not everyone plays the same way. The way blizz decides to sometimes change their mind on something is that people keep asking for it.
To expound on this phycological issue thing. It’s actually impossible for the vast majority of people to have real sentimental attachment to more than ~20 people. That’s your inner sphere. Beyond that you can like people, but your brain is already subconsciously creating expendable groups to ensure survival if need be.
Goes back to our hunter gatherer instincts. If the world ever ends those groups will kick in and you’ll abandon or betray people outside your inner circle without a second thought (if needed obviously)
It is indeed possible for an object to be one of those inner circle. But if multiple of your toons are part of your inner circle that’s a real issue.

How is having 2 linked licenses different from 1 with more slots? Hint: It’s not, except now Blizzard has to maintain 2 different subscription tiers based on available storage for EACH payment threshold (30 days 60 days etc) So why make the change?

46 alts here, I support the increased cap idea. Have some slots saved for future allied races maybe. People normally creates and play hundreds of different characters in games like Elder Scrolls Skyrim or Dark Souls for many different purposes, in WoW is no different. My endgame “goal”, if there is even such a thing, is trying a little bit of every class/race/spec/faction combination, and leveling/gearing them as much as time allows - and use them for goldmaking (professions), transmog/mount collecting, and random BGs.
