How’s that a problem?
Really the war effort is awesome because it helps break the meta, it helps disrupt the whole “gotta parse” bs that’s so strong and while very fun if done in a friendly way within your own team is harmful to the game overall.

But at least more people on your server will have a shot at the shiny legendary mount,
Yes after a time the war effort will slowly start to complete it self.
Is there somewhere that we can compare our server progress to that of others?
they really should have changed the items needed or at least swaped em only telling people a week before
Many people suggested this here prior to the event and it would have been a good thing for the game, but it would have angered the min/max crowd who just want to blow through the game, and they are a really sizable portion of the player base.
Sure. But the average solo player or small to medium guild can’t make a dent in the requirements if the big guilds refuse to do turn-ins until after the members of the coalition get ready to ring the gong. This is even more apparent on servers where the factions have, say, a 70/30 split on population. If the large guilds in the minority faction don’t want it to happen, then they can slow their faction’s side of the war effort to a crawl.
#nochanges was a request/philosophy directed at the game developers, not the playerbase. Stockpiling is just a behavioral choice by the playerbase, so no, it does not throw #nochanges out the window.
OP, so what you’re describing seems to be just envy/jealousy. In other words, a personal problem.
Yes, there is a fail-safe.
Yes, it makes sense that not fulfilling the requirements delays your access to what those requirements unlock. That’s how requirements function.
TLDR;
OP whines entire thread because her large server had AQ mat knowledge for years but didn’t do anything, spends entire time lashing out at people who don’t stroke her ego.
Herpaderp.
Is there some kind of protection/fail-safe for this?
Yes, but only for war efforts. Someone still has to do the tedious scepter quest…or wait until TBC.
No pretty much just demilicus who is a troll in every single thread on this forum, and makes complete red herring arguments.
How does the popularity of my server matter in regards to my criticism of the war effort? My criticism is that, for any reason at all, some servers can just not have access to content that other servers do. Is it jealousy? Uh, yeah, it is, good job captain obvious, but it seems like a reasonable one because it’s an unfairness that I have very little personal control over beyond the tiny effect I can have in the small amount of time I can login outside of raids.
I’m not expecting other people to do work for me, I’m just pointing out an incongruence in the gameplay experience that is 100% beyond my control, and I find it to be poor design.
Will it change? No. This thread isn’t really about trying to change the war effort this late in the game. It’s just to say, “the war effort kinda sucks”.
Grow up.
Start a guild. Be an officer. Rally up your friends. Inspire your community.
Take the reins.
before the projected release date of Naxx
whos projection?
I hate to say it, but it is your server community’s fault it hasn’t been opened. Maybe it consists of a bunch of casuals that don’t give a crap? I can’t really understand that mentality either, because even if you don’t care about the gates opening, you can still make a buttload of gold selling mats on the AH to people that do.
I think after 30 days it started to autocomplete. That is about as much as you can hope for.
My server is pretty big but we didn’t get the war effort done right away because people hadn’t stockpiled the mats beforehand and everyone was farming carapace frags for the scepter.
It took the raiding guilds working towards it together when we all saw the war effort was lagging, we coordinated farming mats, moving mats to the alliance, etc. Not alot of 60s kept skinning, so we were grouping with levelers to skin our kills or loot the linen for us.
No one gets to raid AQ before its done, so at least you know every raider has a vested interest in opening the gates.
You gotta work with your whole server to get them turned in, Biggles worth is going to lose a second lockout because of some trolls but we’re making pretty good progress since we started organizing a few days ago.
simply because we don’t have a coalition of speed farm guilds or because we’re stuck with a wonky population
That’s not why you’re stuck. You’re stuck because many guilds decided to hold off turnins so they could farm more scarab lords.
If you want it to open faster, form your own coalition to do turnins and scare them into ringing the gong.
Unfortunately I don’t really have that kind of ability. Mostly an issue of available play time, among other things (family of 3, working on a master’s degree).
People keep telling me to “do it yourself!” but, like, I can’t. So while I get how that is the most logical solution, it’s not really reasonable for me specifically.
This thread is more of a Squidward behind the blinds meme than anything else.
Then, I mean, its just not an event designed for players with your availability. Just like the pvp grind isn’t. That’s okay. You can wait, it will auto open. It’s not going anywhere.
I mean they kind of did with Sunwell Plateau.
