In 10.0 - the war on flying needs to end

That is literally what a “Back in the day” argument is. Just because something made sense before doesn’t mean it makes sense now.

it makes sense still lol. just do your dailies this isint hard. at all

i’d rather just buy it with the mountains of gold i have than do uninteresting boring side quests ad infinitum under the guise of “accomplishment” this whole “EARN IT” argument is super boring

They still wont do it.

means earning it thats a bad thing

Flying is a luxury not a need. earn it. experience the zone

It seems like if the next expansion is indeed about the Dragon Isles as is rumoured then it would make sense to integrate flying into the story from the outset.

I’m predicting the borrowed power nonsense is here to stay so why not have the player make some sought of pact or accord, or dare I say it, a covenant with the various dragon aspects that grants the player a dragon flight form?

That isn’t what I mean by “makes sense.” It doesn’t matter how hard it is. The movement doesn’t match the pace of the gameplay. It feels slow and sluggish when the gameplay is fast and action packed. Flying feels a lot better with this style of gameplay because its fast, like the combat.

Just earn it like the rest of us. If they gave you flying from day one then you wouldn’t be logging in to say how crappy the game was because you completed it in 2 days. You would be complaining about completing it in 2 hours while you flew around and missed out on how much fun the zone actually is.

This argument hinges on the idea that using ground mounts and “experiencing the zone” is fun, it’s not. Making something longer doesnt necessarily mean its more fun. People shouldnt be quitting the game after completing the game, they should be playing the game because it’s fun to play. I think the truth is the game is no longer fun, and timegating content doesnt make it more fun, it just adds frustrating onto an aging and out-of-touch experience.

I play the game two different ways.

At the start of the game:

  • All instanced content.
  • Raid logging.
  • No world content.
  • No amount of gatekeeping or rewards will get me to do world content, especially daily quest chore trash content without flying.

Once flying is introduced:

  • I do all the things.

9.2 is the fan-service patch giving fans everything they want, and it doesn’t have flying. I feel like that says it all.

go set up a pic nic next to the jailor. Offer him tea and tell him how fat his mother is. After he has killed you a hundred times, you can say boy that was fun. Maybe I’ll do it again tomorrow.

They do. Currents are also rewarded from story quests. Blizz could still make sure people “experience the zone” but still get flying when they finish the main zone storyline.

To be fair, a lot of the devs during WoD are not around or are on other games.
But one survived [in the wow team] and that is Ion …

Flying is delayed in FF14 I believe too.

I think having you level to the new cap in the new zones and do the story in them should grant you flying after.

Their obsession with it just so you can realize how little content there is in their zones before you can get flying while simultaneously being sick of the zone by then is getting tiresome :stuck_out_tongue:

People keep mentioning the way FF14 does it. I just want to state for the record that I hate that too. I just want flying unlocked from the beginning. These games would feel better if it was.

is even easier in 14…

Having flying right off the bat for every content defeates the effort put into that content if your just going to skip over it.

Well I agree, I don’t play ff14, just remember reading about it somewhere on the flying stuff. I think it’s more from a developer point of view and not a player approach in the reasons why they do what they do regarding flying at least. Ultimately flying in a fantasy game like warcraft from the get go if done well can be really interesting IMO.
