I would be super hard to react to and make good use of proc like ~4s of pillar. Pillar really just enables Obliterations which gives us KMs. We would be better off with a talent that just gives use a way to proc KMs other than AA crits. Something like consuming Rime has a x% chances of granting KM. Our Cold Blooded Steel used to let our FS crits proc a KM, I loved that. Should bake that back in somewhere.
Or bring back our DF S1 set that consuming KM has a x% chance not to consume it. that was so much fun.

Either that or riders needs to be on a faster cd than 1.5 min and Db needs to be every 20 s or something.
I back on my paladin and as a much lower ilvl, it’s a lot easier to maintain dps than dk.
Or other abilities in between cds needs to a lot more impactful
In heroic I am only doing around 500k dps as frost by end of fight. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

You forgot to press chill streak (3/9 uses)
You never pressed HOW but put a point in it
You forgot to press ERW (2/4 casts)
You almost never pressed soul reaper 7/42
You were capped on runes 25% of the fight
You wasted a lot of KM procs
You never pressed raid dead - macro it to POF
No combat potion
You spent 30% of the fight not pressing anything
You put RI on your weapon but didn’t spec into SB

Trust me, it’s not worth it.
As for the damage outside pillar, it’s by design. We have an incredible burst window on a 45s cd (if you fully spec into oblit), thats a VERY short timer for such a strong burst. The damage has to be offset by something to not be the most overpowered spec ever. A solution to this could be to take power from Pillar and add it back to the rest of the basekit.
A way to mitigate this weaker downtime is playing dual wield, which has a lot more KM procs. 2hand plays even further into the current state because the burst is even stronger, but outside it you are even weaker.
I try to save my cooldowns for times when I am not dodging mechanics. Is this a mistake? Also, you mentioned marcoing raise dead to POF. Are there any of macros you are using for openers?
Yes I am swapping into my myth plus spec on fights that have add so I leave RI on my weapon. What are considered the best to use for raid build?

in no world will unholy ever end up anywhere near 700-800k ST with ilvl 600.

If you are running obliteration, that is 100% a mistake. You should be firing off CDs as soon as they come up.
