That had us using both cat and bear for dps. Weaving in and out of forms doing dps would be really cool and it would be very interesting to play if done properly.
Ah well one can only dream.

This is how I used to PvP back in Vanilla on my druid. Open in cat, load up bleeds during the opening stun, shift to bear and whittle then down. Use bash to interrupt heals, give myself a heal window, or run away to stealth for another opener.
Feral druids were suuuuper weak in PvP back then (presumably still are in classic), but that play style made me feel like pretty hot stuff when I managed to land a kill haha.
Anyway, in order to make the specs more viable over the years, they got more role specialized. WoW doesn’t really support a true hybrid play style anymore. It’s fair because it was just too hard to balance properly, but you could have some fun times back in those days.
Still though, if this is something you’re interested in, try playing a feral druid in WoW Classic… you have it free with your existing retail sub. You can really only get away with this while leveling, but it’s still pretty fun
Guardian Druid with Feral affinity in raids

I know what you mean. I played druid in classic and I enjoy the back and forth. I just wish it was more fleshed out you know? Like abilities playing into each other in cat and bear. The way I picture it is awesome but they’d never pull it off.
Whaaat?
Resto cat weaves for stuns and damage in keys and arenas.
Feral, well played, tosses out respectable heals and brings CC to arena and keys.
Bear tanks catweave for damage when they are waiting to take the boss.
The problem isn’t that druid can’t do these things. The problem is that there is very little room for this gameplay. In raids, it hardly ever matters. And in almost all content other classes just bring more to the table than feral utility.
I even like the idea of bear dps. That would be something I’d also enjoy to see. I cant see it ever happening but I’d love it.
Chaunt laid it all out for you my friend haha.
I know what chaunt said. I’m just saying being able to purely dps in bear would also be cool to see.
Get some good old fashion bear hug burst on top of all the cat bleeds. Would be lit.
Well I mean I guess you still can. I’ve had people enter the group under DPS queue and be in tank form (warriors/DKs/Druids, you name it) and not swap out to their DPS roll and just go through the Dungeon not taunting and not using defensives but just going ham in tank mode.
So…I guess it’s possible to do that
I have been dpsing heroic dungeons and queuing as tank or healer.
I do this for the 1k gold I make in about 10-15 minutes of mindless ability spamming.
It’s actually pretty fun and it’s good practice doing your feral rotation while also using your pred swiftness procs to keep the nubs alive when they stand in band. I think of it like a target dummy with a community service component thrown in since I basically solo the dungeon.
I have a buddy that takes this a step further and legit heals lowbie keys (2-5) as a feral druid. I assume you can get some decent mileage if you get switch hitter and the azerite for regrowth.
EDIT: oh dammit I just realized that this playstyle is going away in shadowlands.
Without the jungle fury azerite trait giving me near 100% crit and the resto azerite that still works in feral spec, kitty dungeon healing may not be good enough.
One more reason to play something else in SL.
Omegasad.
I would love a bear dps spec!
