iMac/Mac Mini/Hackintosh for WoW Ultra Settings?

try a clean installed Google phone on the google fi network. The Andriod OS when clean (no samsung, lg, etc., add ons) is great.

using a pixel 3a xl and it runs great - iiirc its the most minimal stock android implementation you can get - but i still miss my iphone because facetime with my family etc.

but back to how expensive everything is - i broke my iphone 6s last year and didn’t want to spend $1000 on a new/old tech (the new SE wasnt out yet) so I picked up a used Pixel 3a XL on swappa for $200 in mint cond. and it’s been great.

i have the pixel 3a XL as well and recently got the pixel 4a.

It will be a battle between a used Pixel 4a XL or a new iPhone SE from swappa once I break my current phone (which will happen…lol).

We got my wife the new SE and she loves it. It’s pretty compelling for it’s price point though. So I will probably lean towards that when eventually i have to replace.

they dropped the 4a XL. They have the 4a and upcoming 4a 5G which looks to be the same size. I would have grabbed the 4a XL instantly if they offered it as I loved my pixel xl and 3axl. The 730g SoC on the 4a does load web pages faster but going down to the 5.8" thinner aspect ration on the 4a takes some time to get used to and it’s not like I have large hands. The 4.7" screen on the iphone SE would kill me (or the phone after I tossed it trying to text someone) even with its fast processor.

I have a Pixel 3 XL as a Google Fi travel phone + Android dev test device and it’s not bad. I appreciate the lightly skinned mostly-stock Android it has over the heavy-handed skinning typical of Samsung, etc. That said, I haven’t been able to make it my daily driver phone… compared to my iPhone some things just aren’t as smooth, and small papercuts abound. Android’s customizability is also a bit wasted on me since the only things I really change are wallpaper and default browser (on Android, Firefox > Chrome).

Both platforms have their problems though, and progress on them is starting stagnate now that the mobile form factor has matured. Kinda makes me wish there were a third major platform to stoke the fires of competition a bit.

I think I see microsoft in the far off distance waving their hands frantically…

They already stopped waving earlier this year. They were just so far away, that the light from their reflections stopping still hasn’t reached us yet.
