I’m playing on an AW 10 keyless board. That thing is loud as all get out. I hush myself sometimes when I am posting.
What about something like a game pad? I can not use a KBM to game. I use a gamepad + a mouse. I only keyboard to talk.
I can’t imagine using a gamepad to WoW. KBM is so natural to me, it’s my usual choice in gaming other than in certain situations where a gamepad is like, recommended. For example, something like Elden Ring, I would never use KBM with. Same deal with something like Armored Core 6, I would never use KBM. Purely because those games are made with controller in mind I think.
But for something like WoW, I can’t get into the idea of using a gamepad. Although I do wanna try that – I dunno what it’s called, but it’s like something you put your fingers in and you can use it instead of a keyboard, and it’s got keyboard functionality throughout the device. I forget what it’s called. I would like to try one of those at some point. I feel like that would be interesting.
This is my way!
I’ve been using one since OG WOTLK and I cannot play (decently) without it now. I started with the Nostromo N52 (e?) I think and am currently have an older Razer Orbweaver (it only lights up green).
I’ve been considering bumping over to the next model from Razer so I can get the newer app/support, but this thing is still working just fine.
I personally love this thing.
He’s talking about more than WoW. lol There are some business applications and the like that use arrow keys, etc. Not just games. Also the num pad being on the opposite side would be super helpful.
We may be having two different visuals of what a “game pad” is. When I say ‘game pad’ I’m not meaning something like a game controller, but something more like a Razer Tartarus (google it, they are pretty neat). It gives your left hand a lot of freedom.
Oh that’s what I was thinking about with the other example! That’s neat. I would love to try one of those.
I hear you, man!
I too started off on a Nostromo. In fact, I normally just call them all “nostromo’s” lol
I’m on a G-13 and I’m nearly ashamed of the amount of money I have spent on having this specific device.
I’ve had two scares. Each scare I bought a new Tartarus. Each time I gave it away because I needed that G-13. I’m half tempted to buy one and keep it on hold incase this one I have now dies on me.
If I lose this G-13… I’m never gunna game again, those other game pads got no meaning.
Some classes in D4 are fun with an Xbox controller. Others require the precision of a mouse.
Im bummed my keyboard has a broken - key.
Yeah that would drive me nutty. I would need a new one immediately.
It was broken new…
Oh. I’m sorry. That’s worse.
I know we were talking about the keypads, which I also personally use, buuuuut-
WoW on a controller is actually pretty darn good nowadays. I have a Steam Deck as well and I don’t use it for any serious content such as higher M+ or raiding, but man it’s so good for casual stuff like knocking out dailies or quests. Taking some steps back and doing some simple content while you’re not at your computer is actually quite nice.
To elaborate a little- WoW now supports keybinding with a controller natively, auto targeting, interacting with a keybind and more which means for most things in the game you can use a controller. There are addons out there that make interacting with menus work with the controller as well - I choose to personally have mouse keybinds on my SteamDeck rather than use the addons though.
Edit: Typo
It just so happens I have a spare - key. You can have it if you want, just be warned it’s off a Russian keyboard so you may not understand it when you type it.
I have the key. The press… she does nussing
I wish there was another competitor with the Tartarus - I’m with you there. Personally I’m not a fan of Razer products (I’ve had 3 Razer mice die on me all within a year, but my Logitech G403 mouse has been running fine for many years now).
Oh, well, that’s different. You didn’t say it was only broken when you push it down. It seems fine when released. hmm. good thing your daughter isn’t named L-a.
Her name is hyphen ironically but without a -
I’m gonna look like a clown anytime I want to use a hyphenated adjective… No one’s ever had it worse than me in the history of humanity
I really like Logitech. been on a 604 for maybe 4 or so years.
The gamepad, though. It’s pretty much a rip off of the Nostromo in all ways.
