But I’d really like it if we took out the word Earth if we’re on Azeroth. I want Azerothquake and for cutscenes to stop saying things like “deep in the Earth.”.
Do they capitalize earth?
No?
Problem solved.
Earth is synonymous with soil. Not just our planet (we’re really lazy with naming our own things. Our moon, sun and planet are essentially placeholders).
But didn’t us EARTHlings come up with that?
Us humans did.
From Earth yes
The real question to answer this depate is: What came first? The word earth? Or the name Earth?
Farming Azeroth just sounds wrong for some reason… digging in the Azeroth…
Yup, we’re dirtlings. As I said, lazy.
So based on our language we can totally use earth on Azeroth ![]()
Dirtling sounds like a DnD insult you’d hurl at someone following a Your mother joke.
Like: “Your motha was a dirtling!”
Earth means ground. To say something is within the earth, is different than on planet Earth.
That’s a misconception. The name of our planet is actually Terra. The term earth, is another name for the physical material Terra is made of. Over the centuries, people simply started referring to Terra as THE earth. Or Earth.
So when you see earth in the lore, they’re referring to the ground, not the planet. Hence, earthquake still applies.
BREAK YOURSELF UPON MY BODY. FEEL THE STRENGTH OF THE…AZEROTH?
That’s what the government wants you to think man. We were placed here by beings billions of lightyears away, open your eyes.
Kinda makes sense… giant planet lady is stronk.
Fixed. Now it sounds fine. ![]()
according to 30 seconds of googling
earth means “the ground” in old germanic languages and was later used to name Earth
Sure. While we’re at it, if you want to play a Blood Elf, you must learn Thalassyan. It makes no sense to hear English in Silvermoon.
Op,it’s reference not literally related to Earth but earth as ground. In order to understand what it is related it has to be something you can understand out side the game.
