I'm sorry but why is RIO addon even allowed?

All it does is compile information on what dungeons you have and have not done. That information is publicly available in your armory profile, you know?

It tells the party leader that you’ve successfully cleared a given level of keystone challenge to a certain level of reliability. This system was developed because the extraordinary abundance of high ilvl gear made ilvl a worthless metric for judging what a PUG player was likely capable of.

Dps are in over supply. Fact is when I list a key as a healer I usually get about 8 dps signing up within the first minute, so obviously I’m going to be selective.

I only do M+ with my friends. I don’t understand why that concept is so terrifying to people, and they insist on spending their leisure time with random strangers on the internet.

To a lot of us, most of our friends are too busy dealing with real life problems.

That’s why you make friends in-game.

  1. RIO compiles the exactly same information on your armory, it’s just in a numerical format.

  2. RIO shows your experience, it tells the group what you have done and what you are likely to be capable of.

  3. When you try to get into a 10 and the highest key you’ve done is a 5, you are not going to get in. I don’t care if M6 doesn’t drop an upgrade or you think you are good enough, prove it first.

  4. There are 239485720394 dps applying for the same spot, there’s no reason to not be selective.

  5. Don’t compare RIO to gear score, it’s not even apples to oranges, it’s more like apple to baseball. Also, keep in mind gear score got built into the client.

RIO isn’t the best indicator but frankly it’s not something that does anything in game but present pre-existing third party-collected information so it’s not really something they can ban per se.

If you want to build up your score your best option is to run a lot of low keys in different dungeons because you’re more likely to be successful and get 3 chests and then once you have built up your score a bit try and inch yourself up key level by key level.

If you barely have any RIO and are trying to spam +10s with complete randos its usually going to suck for both parties.

Only bad players complain about RaiderIO.

You’re playing an MMORPG, go find a guild that runs M+ dungeons and go make some online friends. There are groups out there looking for people, and once you clear enough with them your score will naturally go up just by playing the game to the point where the addons score doesn’t really matter. It’s in your hands.

RIO is a necessary evil due to gear inflation.

This one has a relatively easy fix. You can link your bnet account on the rio website. Blizzard allow this and supervise so there is no risk to account security. That way your mains score will also show on your alts when you sign up for groups on them, giving people a better idea of your level of skill.

I’ll put it this way: I’ll take the alt of aomeone with a 1200 tank score on io over someone who has a 1500io as a dps.

Or if you are someone who merely buys their +10 each week, that shows as well that you have no randomness in the keys you run(level wise) and if they’re mostly +10’s, more often than not, it’s a true sign they have no clue what to do in that particular dungeon but join the grp, pay the gold and afk just inside the doorway.

So after a day of work reporting performance figures to the boss, I need to pursue a score to impress or to be accepted in a game?

Sorry, that’s not what I want from a game.

Yes there are serious limitations to RIO as a metric – it’s entirely possible a person has bought their keys, been carried by friends, dual boxer and been carried, etc. Of course there are no better metrics in the game when it comes to randos which is why we are stuck with RIO.

Yep. I personally have no issue with RIO, I accept that I don’t put in what is needed to join keys, or be accepted in a grp, that’s why I stated what I did about if my guild isn’t running them, or I don’t have 4 other friends that are running them, I don’t have any expectations nor do I put forth effort b/c I can’t stand pugs. lol

Also super obvious whwn someone has no keys done below 10, but 12 done at 10 or higher with a score in the 1000s.

I’m sorry the other players don’t want to submit themselves to your whims.

It doesn’t by itself, but if you can think of a better way to quickly pick from the dozens DPS that try to sign up for a single DPS opening when people list their keys then go for it
