I think the idea is sweet. This was his purpose all along. I can’t say I’ve gotten used to the look yet, but perhaps a golden crown would be a nice finishing touch.
This dude was and still is a joke just like SL itself is. The dude has done literally nothing but cry and cower and all of the sudden he’s the end all. This story man lmaooo. I rather them throw Baine’s useless self there. At least I know I’d never have to see him again or Blooman.
Woohoo Pelegos possesses Pinocchio’s body and (hopefully) goes on a killing spree (I wish).
I think the no legs thing threw me off a bunch but I am getting used to it.
Feel like a less detailed head would have helped but maybe that would have lost too much of Pele.
I thought that was Turalyon sitting on Anduin’s empty throne in Stormwind. It could apply to Pelagos, though.
Nomi should’ve been the new Arbiter, just saying. Then he could teach everyone about cooking.
I give it 10 years and the covenants will be pleading for us to come back and fix things once more
Who is this character, i dont think i have even seen him before my last play session. He sounds and looks lame as
Why do I see his arms and you dont. Am I gifted?
His legs are under a 7foot long robe… how we gonna see 3 foot legs under a 7 foot robe?
Pelagos is just that hard carry you got stuck with that ended up getting all the loot before personal loot was added. He’s basically a ninja looter.
The whole process was confusing to me. Attempting to recreate a new Arbiter from some type of ritual magic? Had it succeeded, this new robotic Arbiter would have apparently been able to judge the ultimate destiny of souls in divine fashion? So, it was a magic ritual that originally created a divine sentient being? The point being is this: How can someone’s “moral compass” be judged by a manufactured process. It would be like letting a computer program decide if someone is good or evil. The program wouldn’t be anything more than an extension of the designer.
Then, Pelagos steps up for the role… Okay… How does this work? Pelagos my have a soul, but how is his judgment divine? Essentially, they are taking concept of religion and mixing it in with some strange Sci Fi and rolling the dice. The Kyrian are definitely loosely based on Christian theology. Which I am fine with. I just don’t see how it all works.
The Arbiter is just an unpaid HR job that you have to keep forever or until you turn evil and get a group of murder hobos to kill you. I have done HR, if that is the loot Pelagos wanted he can have it!
So what you’re saying is that he was assigned Kyrian at death, when it really didn’t fit him. And he tried his best to fulfill that role anyhow and didn’t do very well because that just wasn’t him and who he’s really supposed to be.
Then, when Argus destroyed the Arbiter protoform and all hope was lost Pelagos had an epiffany that being the Arbiter was his true purpose. His true and genuine self if you will.
So he, dare I say, transitions into being the Arbiter.
As a trans person, the whole Pelagos story sounds an awful lot like an allegory for the trans experience to me.
And the dialog…wow that was aw-ful.
“But Pelagos…what do you mean?!”
Cuts to Pelagos who has his back turned
“I never ascended…maybe this was the reasons [insert something like For the Shadowlands]”
Some time later
“…And tell Arestes I’m sorry”
“Somehow, I think they’ll understand”
the whole gang laughs
“Maw walker!”
Did you overpaid people just crib this from a Scooby Doo episode?
Tell us you hired your father’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s former roommate to do your voice acting, without telling us you hired your father’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s former roommate to do your voice acting.
Seriously, they sound like someone owed a favor for some off the books shenanigans. Especially Pelagos. His voice actor is HORRIBLE.
And now I found out why. Pelagos’ voice actor is inexperienced with only 8 credits to his name before Shadowlands, none of which were VO parts. Imagine hiring a guy that had ZERO voice over acting experience to play a main figure in your story, when there are a ton of young, experienced VOAs that would gladly take the role. I guess, they had a quota to fill. These days, you can’t hire anyone because they’re right for the role, but they have to have gone through similar to take the job.
I guess they all missed the “acting” part. No offense to any transgendered person, but bad VOA is bad VOA no matter who does it.
Quota? For what? Virginal podcast editors?
I am guessing they wanted to get a transgender VA for Pelagos, because Elliot Fletcher is trans. The issue is that Elliot just has no VA work prior to Shadowlands and is just an actor.
My issue with Pelagos being the Arbiter is that for the entire expansion, he’s shown time and again he can’t sort HIS OWN s*** out, but now he’s suddenly going to be final judge for every soul coming into the Shadowlands? The only way this would have flown with me would have been if Pelagos was basically absorbed during the joining to the vessel body and the process created a new Arbiter which had influence from his experiences, but ultimately was a divinely created entity which was NOT actually still Pelagos. The whole “no it’s really still me!!” is completely stupid because all Pelagos has demonstrated is lots of incompetence with things a lot less important/complicated than being Arbiter.
I don’t DISlike the character but I just don’t find him interesting on any level whatsoever. There are piles of other characters I find far more compelling for various reasons. Pelagos has always just seems to be an unimportant addon until all of a sudden he wants to get all clingy to the player’s character and follow us around. Honestly, when he jumped in with “I want to go with the Maw Walker” I was busy thinking, “no thanks, I’ve got this on my own…”
There are a lot of better routes which could have been taken to remake the Arbiter. I would have preferred to NOT see one of the existing characters involved at all. So I’m disappointed by the choice. (Also, I honestly do think the character looks kind of silly, but that’s personal opinion.) At least for once I can be happy expansion characters are episodic and he’ll be a thing of the past in a year.
I was like,
FINALLY ! Pelagos isn’t a useless twit! That’s right, sacrifice your useless sorry butt and do some good in this universe!
