I'm so bored of grey items in calling rewards

But again, that gold is going to the auction house aka other players

The actual amount of gold deletion, you know, buying stuff from vendors is pretty negligible. Penumbra thread isnt that expensive, and it’s a one-time cost to level a profession.

Legendaries are not a gold sink because they don’t delete gold from the game. Only vendors delete gold. That is a gold sink.

Buying a brutosaur mount from an npc vendor for 5 million gold is a gold sink because it deletes that gold entirely from the game. It can no longer circulate between players. Giving another player 5 million gold does not delete the gold, because that player can go on and soend it on ah (player-to-player) or npc gold sink.

The team doing this game now is extremely lame and very safe. Callings aren’t fun to do even for some gold.

It does seem like a missed opportunity for them to have done something more creative and fun.

The cost of being able to learn to craft those items is crazy high. It’s not like you just pick it up from the crafting trainer. They had to craft dozens of each of the lower tiers to learn the next one.

So the gold you spend buying a legendary part is going to the crafter how had their gold deleted from the game learning to make the higher tiers of legendary components.

Trainer recipes might be high, but as a one-time cost, it is truly negligible in the long run. I guarantee you spend more on repairs in one week than learning one of these recipes.

And repairs are an ongoing expense that deletes gold, so they are a more reliable gold sink.

Well, from my experience, if you want green items, you have to kill something on which it would be absurd to have armor - for instance, the bear I killed today and got spaulders. Weird.

Well they pull some out because you have to buy some supplies from vendors but no, they aren’t really doing much to offset the huge money people are earning now.

They seemed to learn their lesson in B for A and lowered earnings from Legion and Draenor but… here we are again.

Earning gold isn’t so much a problem if there are attractive ways to spend it on. I think the brutosaur mount was a very clever double, even triple-problem solver

  • it puts more auctioneers in the world, which players have been asking for ages
  • the e enormous price tag sinks a lot of that bloated WoD gold from circulation
  • as a bonus, those too lazy to farm 5 million gold bought a ton of tokens to get one, netting blizzard monetary profit while deleting gold and increasing its overall value.

It was a smart move.

Shadowlands just doesnt really have any huge hold sinks yet. Black market AH maybe, but it depends what’s for sale, and it’s not exactly new. Mounts? Nothing terribly d pensive yet, the rep ones are like 30k. X4 is barely over 100k which is less than one BFA frog boi mount. Legion had, (and still has?) the 1 mil spider mount

They worth around 2k gold.
Per calling.
So 14k in gold per week.
It covers all repair and if you don’t die much, you can save for later rewards such as mounts.

Because you’re actually not getting anima for yourself at all, you’re giving your anima to your house.

My opinion: gold is a boring reward. It’s boring, it causes inflation, and I know I will get the same reward each day, bar these mythical gear and mounts i hear about.

You can buy mount, gear and even friends!
You can have private or public mailbox entertainment!!!
You can have a private room in GoldShire!

Gold is everything but boring!

I’ve gotten gear and conduits from them.

Are you sure you’re not a goblin, pal?

Do you know what is mailbox entertainment???
This is amazing!
:stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe the hand mount I’ve heard rumors about will be a big ticket item. If I were Blizzard’s CEO I would have them put in things for people to blow gold on that are minor in terms of character power but popular with players like flight, etc.

Flight actually used to be a huge gold sink, in BC epic flying was… was it 2k or 5k? It was a lot for the time and you needed to save up for weeks if not months.

However, with chromie time, it makes no sense to deny low level players flying, cutting them off from storyline content.
