I'm really liking the story so far

Usually the story of WoW is just a minor background thing, where I don’t feel too touched/compelled to it. I think Legion was the last time I felt stirred by the story, but then again- I left after doing some BFA and only came back recently.

I’ve done some dragon flight, and there were some really fun moments! I liked them, thought they were a step up from what I was used to in WoW.

But I just finished everything so far in TWW except for the Arathi/siren isles story and I actually am in love with the direction things are going in. I’m attached to characters, I’m getting emotional over them. I love the goblins, the dwarves are super fun, and Orweyna is super cool.

I just wanted to leave feedback somewhere because I think they should keep it up. I hope though that they eventually make it clear which order you should play the quests in for story continuity purposes, because my bestie played undermine before doing the stuff with Orweyna going off on her own and so on.

Alliance player enjoys alliance stories.
News of the century.

It’s nice to see some positivity on the story forums, we’re often in short supply around here. I agree with you, TWW’s pretty decent and the last time I felt this invested was Legion.

I’ll admit, I’m rather skeptical when it comes to Midnight, but hoping for the best going forward.

You’re having fun and that is good.

The Alliance over drive is head spinning…

But at least Moira and Dagran Jr are fun to quest with and they have interesting personalities. They made the Alliance bias somewhat tolerable.

I’ll always have a soft spot for Moira. She’s a great character and Dagran I wish I could adopt, he’s such a loveable nerd.

TWW though has had its bright spots. Ajz-Kahet, Hallowfall, questing with the Kobolds were all fun things for me.

I just dislike the incoherent and disconnected feeling the overall story has. It feels like it’s bouncing all over and doesn’t know which direction it wants to take going forward

That’s definitely a criticism I have too. But I’m hoping that going forward they’ll be covered in other expansions and tied to the overarching plot! I really really love the Nerubians and they make me excited. I almost wish I could play one, they’re fun. Hollowfall is really cool, too. I want to know what Belladar is.

I’ve mentioned this before but I feel the main narrative through line of TWW is not so much the Dark Heart but the Black Blood. I mean both raids directly involve the Black Blood through the Ascended Nerubians and Gallywix making weapons powered with the stuff.

Meanwhile the Dark Heart, while important should be the narrative through line for the saga and not TWW specifically. I just feel we are getting Dimensius too soon. Like we go from Nerubian Queen, to a Goblin in a Black Blood empowered mech to ELDRITCH GOD OF GODS that kills you just by being near you. What the hell is that power scaling?

I don’t think we have had an expansion before where we have had such an extreme power creep in the end of raid bosses. At least Legion has Kil’jaeden at full power to bridge the gap between old man orc and a literal Titan. I guess you could argue Shadowlands with the gap between Sylvanas and Zovaal but I would count dominated Anduin as a ‘final raid boss’ in an unofficial capacity given that he was tuned to be one. As you did not have access to the final 3 bosses in the first week of the raid.

The threats in Midnight have to be something special to not make this power gap even more silly.

I feel like that might be a symptom of Metzen tweaking things already built under entirely different creative direction to try to direct it towards his vision of a grand saga. It made part one here a little janky. I am hoping Midnight into TLT will be smoother as they were made from the ground up to fit together.

I feel like TWW was built by Danuser as his answer to Legion; right up to fighting Dimensius where in Legion we fought Argus (and indirectly Sargeras on Mythic).

I’m wondering if we’ll be allowed to win against Dimensius or if they’re going to pull a Sylvanas and end it halfway through to create a big cliff-hanger disaster that leads into Midnight.

Personally I’m hoping for the latter.

I’m expecting we beat Dimensius then Xal’atath takes some of his power and causes Midnight.

No doubt she’ll get the Dark Heart back and set her sights on the Sunwell as her next meal for it.

What I am actually wondering is if she has any hand in the sunwell stuff initally. What if the Naga want to use it to create a portal for Azashara? She is off in the Void striking deals for power with who knows what eldritch gods, and now she needs a door back to Azeroth.

Glad to hear you are enjoying it. Sometimes we get so focused on complaining in this forum that it’s easy to lose sight of how the story can come across to others.

Seriously.

I don’t want to call folks out, some issues do need to be aired out, but when it’s all that’s happening? This board can be a real drag.

This does bring up the issue, the story maybe World of Alliancecraft, but is it “good” World of Alliancecraft?

I mean, for all the hate, The Legacy of Arathor did break with one aspect that makes Allaince so boring, there were a bad people doing bad things.

That said, I’m kind “meh”. Moria was kinda a bland, “everything is OK” story. Andiun’s story arc has had trouble engaging me. Alleria spends a few minutes complaining about whispers and then is the expert that will save us all from the void.

The Arathi were not bad (at least for Blizzard), though Fearin is just “OK”. Some for the Earthen. Nerubians were not bad. Destroying Dalaran was a bit interesting.
