hm yes, now that I think about it I do remember being a bit annoyed that after we did everything right to win the battle for andorhal throughout that long questline suddenly the Val’kyr can just show up and we lose immediately.
In other questlines where we lose it is a setup for us to retreat for now but return later to set things right and get revenge, often in a dungeon or scripted quest. But this time we just lost and never went back there again.
I’m done at the start of April. I cancelled my account during Blizzcon, unfortunately I pay in six month increments so I have to wait until April. The cinematic was sort of inspiring on selling this expansion and then it went out into a completely different route.
I think the only thing BfA is succeeding at is the idea of allied races. Which is kinda sad because only the idea of it is succeeding.
If we have to wait and see if the story is worth the wait I say just sub at the end of the expansion.
Tired of a heroic faction being mischaracterized as a villainous one. At least in ES I can intentionally be a hero or villain and whatever my faction does is totally inconsequential – and in ffxiv i can’t not be the hero.
You shouldn’t leave now! The playable Zandi, which were promised as a release race, will be playable in just 1 patch or so. Like September at the latest!
Just keep paying that monthly sub and “wait and see”!
It’d be bad form if we weren’t allowed to give feedback on why we’re leaving the game. Advising against constructive goodbye notes doesn’t make much sense if you believe the devs could be doing a better job handling this game, or any game.
Oh yeah, criticize blizz all you want! I’d just recommend making a thread specifically about the thing youre criticizing instead of a big, dramatic, personal letter.
Heck even big, dramatic personal letters have a place: your realm’s forum or the general forum. Not the story forum.
If Andorhal had ended with Thassarian saying, “They may have taken Andorhal, but after that battle it won’t do them much good. They’ve expended a lot of soldiers, and lost one of Sylvanas’ precious Val’kyr in the process. That’s a far more valuable victory in the long-term. The Horde won the battle but just took a hit that may well cost them the war. You did well. We’ll be falling back with most of our forces in tact to regroup and recover. We’ll fortify our position, and increase our influence in the area before the next push.”
Well, to me that makes the whole thing seem much more worthwhile.
the fact that its you saying that Treng, despite all the shouting matches you put yourself through, makes me believe it.
Alright then, if none of y’all have a problem with “I’m quitting” threads in the story forum then I guess I don’t either. Hopefully more legitimate criticism has a higher chance of blizzard eventually listening!
The end result is still the same. Lost flight path, abandoned storyline, and none of it ever goes away. You better off never doing the questline to begin with.
Also we kill a lot of Val’kyr in that battle and the Alliance narrative has never made them out to be anything other than scourge mooks who joined Sylvanas instead of Bolvar.
This is part of the reason the Darkshore questline was poorly received. Horde players felt losing a Val’kyr was a big deal. Alliance players, “So what? We have been doing that since level 35. Now why did Nathanos, something of actual importance, get killed between both Tyrande and Malfurion being there?”
All I can say is, I disagree. It’s possible to lose and still come out on top. Andorhal was always a poorly written storyline, and to be honest, I don’t think there is a way to properly salvage that. It is what it is. There never should have been a flight point in it if it was going to be lost, so I won’t disagree with you on that point.
Chillwind should’ve been expanded into a Fortress. It would’ve made it seem like something was gained, and being able to control the flow of forces at that choke-point right next to Andorhal would diminish it’s value, making the loss much less impactful.
