I'm noticing a trend while healing in M+

Wow. Someone in here with an IQ in the triple digits actually gets it. I can tell you main a healer, unlike the other guy in here trying to flex their IO.

I don’t. I main Feral. I don’t think I’ve touched Resto since I did the Mage Tower with it. I’m just very opinionated on what good WoW play looks like.

I know, I was just being silly with it. Good players are rarely only good at DPS since even the biggest padders are typically cognizant of the fact a dead DPS does zero damage.

But in M+ it’s not low damage or low healing that typically bricks keys (outside some exceptions, like Stitchflesh), it’s mechanical failures, especially this season where instagibbs are abundant and deaths cost three times as much time as previous seasons. But just like how good dps and good mechanics often go hand in hand, it’s bad DPS and bad mechanics have a far stronger correlation.

But still, it’s another reason on why Healers should DPS. If you can manage to do 5% of the groups damage, that’s 5% less mechanics that go out and 5% less chances for instagibbs.

Well that just makes me even more impressed tbh.

Probably for the best this season. They’re in a rough state at the moment.

He’s a bad healer.
and a worse forum troll. ← That’s actually his day job.

They’re definitely in the worst spot of the Druids but I wouldn’t have said Feral is in the best spot of its life. Truth be told I think Guardian is the only Druid spec that’s in a comfy output spot right now and even then it’s not enough for me to say the class as a whole is feeling good.

But I’ve never been one to let current patch situations dictate what I play. I’m ride or die Feral and my aim is to play it best I can. One of the harder truths in this world is that spec choice doesn’t matter as much as people think it does and a good player is a good player even when they play a “bad” spec.

This is 100% true but I really hope this doesn’t turn into another healer damage thread. That horse has been beaten so thoroughly there’s no remains left for a necromancer to animate. But broadly speaking, yes, classes should use their entire kit when it’s useful. Feral’s energy resource and hybrid healing means we have some surprisingly potent off-heals, especially when we run Wildstalker and have blooms popping up everywhere. Part of my effort in learning dungeons involves learning the best Nature’s Vigil timings and sliding in Wild Growths and Regrowths when I’m able to.

It does not, as someone who has to grind his key because I am fairly new I would say that that these issues generally are multifaceted. Sometimes you have a dps who doesn’t know mechanics. Often its because a healer or a tank are underlevel and they don’t know how to use their class effectively to compensate. Sometimes dps is underlevel and dam is low but tanks pull assuming they can handle and the healer can’t keep up.

A good group is adjusting to each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

your post proves that we have so many good players in the forums that complain about pugs , that if you all gathered and played together , this problem would have been resolved

I do what you do, which is why I’m happier in delves. I’m comfortable using my defensives when I need them and I don’t need a party of big-dk DPS kicking me for doing it.

You missed Sunday.

Absolutely. That’s my experience as a healer main as well. I also have two tanks this season that I do in M+ and have also noticed that any key that isn’t timed (which, has been few and far between for me atm on my tanks) it was 100% not the healer’s fault, lol.

Honestly, part of the issue is that people don’t like to point the blame at themselves (I make it a point to quickly own up to a mistake I make and typically if that does happen, I’ve noticed most groups tend to be forgiving about it) and so they want to blame others. DPS who go mongoloid brain and ignore their interrupt button and then jump on the healer for them all dying, or the tank ignoring proximity mechanics and wiping the groups because he’s lollygagging off in lulu-land, etc.

But, that’s just a rampant issue. There’s a lot of insecurity and cognitive dissonance in the population of folks who play this game. Kind of sad, really.

It’s wild how so many people complain of bad players here yet there aren’t any posts of people saying they are a bad player.

Dps have a newfound responsibility that they aren’t grasping right now. They’ll come around.

My only responsibility is to stab things and then vanish when things turn sour.

Glad you have faith.

When tanking if i feel like i am not being healed i look at the dps. It is nearly always the dps failing at one or more of thier jobs.

My favorite case of monkey brain was a fury war that kept dying, then says ??? in chat. That is when our mage opened up on them about having 1 interrupt when the mage had 15. Best bricked key ever.

You can tell the difference between a tank using mitigation and a tank face tanking all the mobs/bosses. I would not blame the dps all the time.

Also, while I am not doing high keys, there is still a trend of tanks not wanting to wait for healer’s mana, even if it will save lives.

Blaming others for your own faults is a sure fire way to never improve. I’m sure all your friends love playing with you.

The thing is that DPS really don’t matter unless you are doing higher keys. You can do lower level keys with one DPS, as long as you have a competent tank and a competent healer.

I’d say most problems in lower keys are usually a tank trying to pull too much or rushing and accidentally pulling too much.

Anything can brick a key.

Low dps
Low hps
Bad tanking
Low aggro
Not knowing percentage paths
Not doing mechanics
Etc

I had a shaman in my group last night (healer) who despite being asked several times to lust / heroism, just didn’t. He stood outside the circle on 2nd boss (Ara’Kara) and died. On the last boss, he didn’t know how to not get pulled in and 1 shot, so we explained it to him.

(He still hasn’t pressed heroism) he proceeds to remain rooted and die to floor aoe. I finally go “Why are we not using heroism???” And he this player goes, “I didn’t know I had it. Also none of you are helping me get unrooted”.

He had zero pressed of wind shear the entire run. Everyone else had kicks, no one else was dying to these mechanics.

Healers have been such a miss in at least the 2-6 key level that it has been the sole reason I’ve been missing keys.
