The “We want more people to quit playing WoW” argument.
Its always about power. One could have the personal responsibility to not engage in content they dont like. But what is important is forcing everyone else to abide by their personal wants and desires.
What’s wrong with risk adverse gameplay? Some people are naturally risk adverse as part of their personality. Some people are more cautious and want to take it slow, methodical, and get it done with CCing adds. Slow but sure.
Why should everyone be forced into playing like they just slammed 5 monsters
So would you also be for removing enrage timers from bosses? Why take risks bringing all those squishy DPS who need healing and die to mechanics if they make mistakes.
And the answer is because it makes the content easier than it was intended to be.
Nothing. The issue is that instead of playing that, you want to take away the content elsewhere that isn’t what you want. Just don’t do M+ if you dislike it.
Honestly pretty impressive, though that’s also with a significant amount of gear and buff stacks, and a pretty notable exception. They’re also still having to beat enrages.
Point being hard content is not won merely by surviving. And removing the timer from m+ turns it into exactly that, content that is won by surviving.
This notion that we’re “forced” to do anything in this game is the part I seriously never understand.
I’m at 620 ilvl. I heroic raid. I do a little M+ here and there with guildies. I don’t pug. I don’t mythic raid. The game is not my job. I collect and quest and piddle with alts. I even play Classic.
You do not need 630+ ilvl. You do not need to raid mythic. You do not need to do M+ keys higher than your skill and comfort level. You do not need to pug any of that content with people you do not know/do not enjoy being around.
It’s been a theory of mine that people who dislike the content but play it anyway are fixated on item level for reasons that just do not register for me.
Did the bosses die? Did you beat the timer? Did you complete your quests with ease? DID YOU HAVE FUN DOING IT?
If the answer to all of those is, “yes,” then you don’t “need” more gear.
If the answer to any of them is, “no,” then your problem is not likely item level. Your problem is likely a lack of skill or a lack of practice or some kind of error in understanding/talent build.
If, in the unlikely event, the issue is truly gear-related, and if that extra handful of item levels is gonna be the difference…then you’re in the top 5% of people who play this game, and that means the only content in this game to challenge you will be +15’s and Mythic raiding.
Video games are meant to be fun. If you don’t like this one…find a different one.
M+ is wonderful content when played with friends. Raiding is a hella good time when done with agreeable people you play with over and over again at a difficulty tier commensurate with your lifestyle and skill level.
Fixating on item level to the degree that it “forces you” to play content you don’t even like…is frankly nuts.
I think for me I wouldn’t categorise it as hard v soft, more natural Vs contrived. The boss glowing red and 1 shotting the tank is a very contrived idea for an enrage. Conversely Kyveza doing the pie slices faster and faster until they fill the whole room has a much more natural feeling, even if it still results in “At X time you die”.
