I'm in favor of the timeskip

Personally I think we will get individual zone revamps in later patches of Dragonflight for places like Tirisfal maybe?

And then the expansion after Dragonflight we will see a larger scale revamp of zones to show more of whats been going on during the time skip.

You did see that most of the Alliance content was half baked parody rubbish that didn’t tell any real stories. It is also half the reason half the alliance zones are underwater, on fire or destroyed. It was all incomplete compared to the Horde content which was far better fleshed out.

So no I don’t look at cataclysm as a win for the writers in the argument. Its just another instance of them tearing the Alliance down.

Now if they actually put some content in the game showing the Alliance actually rebuilding like the did with the forsaken I would be more hopeful but that isn’t what we got. We got a single cinematic about all the Nightelf dead having to sacrifice them selves to a seed to build a new world tree? which is likely going to end on the dragons lands and not even the Nightelves land.

At this point the Alliance is done waiting for our time to rebuild and we aren’t willing to wait another 5 years for a massive world revamp. We really need somehting now to get us hyped about moving forward.

None of this is relevant to the point you tried to make.

This was your claim:

Cataclysm existing proves that you’re wrong. If you were making this argument back in 2007, it might be more plausible.

You told me to wait on a world remvamp, I pointed out last time they did that the screwed the alliance over because they left them to the last minute. Where as they horde not only got brilliant revamped content they have also got stories after the fact showing them restoring lost settlements and towns. Blizzard has a bad habit of giving Horde content like this and forgetting about the Alliance as per the robo kitty content back in 5.3 vs what the horde got and this latest content patch with the forsaken rebuilding and the Alliance getting a shoddy in game cinematic which meant nothing.

I said it would take an entire expansion to restore the Alliance back shall I list what needs fixing.

  • Theramore needs to be restored
  • Darkshore needs updating and the towns restored
  • Ashenvale and needs restoring
  • Teldrassil Or hyjal rebuilt as a new Night elf home
  • Nethergarde keep needs rebuilding
  • Westfall needs to not be on fire and built
  • Menthil Harbour needs to be unflooded.
  • Southshore needs rebuilt
  • Arathi needs to be rebuilt
  • Darkshire was destroyed but then not? not sure if this needs updating.
  • Gilneas needs to be restored.
  • Gnomergan needs to be rebuilt

Not gonna leave any real room to do anything else if they actually intend on fixing this stuff. So yes they should handle some of this with short stories specifically free ones and then simply update the assets in game. We simply need something going forwards to feel positive about. Wait and see isn’t going to work anymore especially if they expect us to wait for world revamp especially if they are doing a 3 year time skip and none of this stuff is resolved

Please consider giving us short stories to explore this time of respite

Love to hear about the confirmation! Thank you Steve for clearing that up.
I do have a question related to the passing of time and aging of characters with this revelation however;

Could we get some input on the Narrative team’s thoughts about Dagran Thaurissan II? Future King of Ironforge

At the end of the Argus campaign it was revealed that he had aged from his cataclysm baby model, and is actually 6-7 years old. This makes sense, as he was conceived in year 25 and so should have been born year 26 and therefore would be 7 as Anduin surmised by the end of the Argus campaign in year 33.

But regardless of that point, as Dragonflight will be taking place at year 40, Dagran will be 14 years old.
Anduin ruled as boy-king in Stormwind at the age of 10 with the help of Bolvar and the “guidance” of Lady Katrana Prestor (he was born year 15, and World of Warcraft begins at year 25).

I doubt we can expect something in early Dragonflight, but perhaps in the later patches or in the following expansion can we expect to see some development on Dwarven lore. What would become of the Council of Three Hammers if Dagran has reached an appropriate ruling age? What does this mean for the Dwarves who have started to call the city home and what conflicts, if any, should we expect?

Everything is important. You can’t leave out character development and expect people to understand why a Greymane roars “Sylvanas” or the Banshee feels herself. Such things need to be shown in the game. especially the politics.

The whole thing feels just poorly managed by people who are on their quest to make more money without realizing you can’t have a MCU with all these interconnections without putting the effort in.

Their problem is that they actually prepare for a world relaunch. The island expeditions offer new house models for various places (Pandaria, Gilneas, …) but instead burning money on something what is needed by now, they do it in small steps with each storyline, which looks just bad for how much money they earn as the #1 MMO in the world.

It’s a pity. They get so much from us and deliver not enough.

In your dreams maybe.

No

No

It belongs to the Horde.

I hope Calia fails with her proposal.

With what army?

No

So you want the world to set back on alliance supremacy got it

The Horde got nothing. All our lands are full of hostile forces from the alliance. Caught your lies.

Last I checked the Forsaken still held Tirisfal and Silverpine, the Horde still hold Durotar, the Northern Barrens, most of the Southern Barrens (having lost no territory there since Cataclysm), most of the Stonetalon Mountains, all of Mulgore, all of Azshara, the Echo Isles…

The list goes on and on with the territory they are holding onto.

So you’re wrong. Objectively and literally.

He is an infamous troll from Germany who has annoyed the UK/FR-forums and as far as I understand it… also the GER-forums, including the US-one.

Ignore him. Most of the stuff he writes is just about Blood Elves and how the Alliance and their players should suffer.

Oh I’m aware of him and his behaviour on these forums.

But I still enjoy tormenting him by calling out his BS.

The Horde lost control of Durotar to alliance forces in Tiragarde fortress. Azshara got attacked by a night elf force which now holds the west. Silverpine now contested after Ivar Bloodfang took Shadowfang Keep. And last to mention the south of hillsbrad where are paladins trying to take Southshore. So No. I just proved all your points wrong.

??

You mean the one that’s a literal ruin and had it’s forces completely wiped out in Vanilla, and then again in Cataclysm when Theramore soldiers tried to use it? That fortress?

Apparently in the Fourth War there were attempts made to rebuild it, but that doesn’t give the Alliance any real control over Durotar even if they were successful.

Except, no, because the Goblins and the Horde wipe them out too. There are supposedly a few defenders still there, but that doesn’t give them any control over Azshara.

Because one keep = the entirety of Silverpine. Okay then, by that logic the Horde holds almost all territories because they have an outpost or two in most of them.

They were ‘attempting’ to cleanse it, no clue as to whether or not they were successful.

I am sure others here have said it, but expansions NEED to take place during their IRL timeframes from now on, for the passage of time to make sense, especially for role-players.

Expansion is out for 2 years? That campaign should take two years. Simple as that.

This makes literally no sense though.

You really expect massive wars that rage across an entire world and it’s multiple continents to wrap up in 1-2 years? Nah, we can’t even get that happening in modern times with our modern equipment, there’s no way in hell that it’s going to be happening in a world that is still mostly reliant on medieval style tech and logistics.

To use a real world comparison, the most recent wars in our history that have actually ended lasted 8 years (Iraq War) and 13 years (War in Afghanistan) and those were wars that were fought in a single nation.

So it’s extremely unrealistic to have all these major conflicts occur year after year after year like an extremely destructive game of whack’a’mole. I’d honestly much rather prefer realistic timeframes between expansions, as long as the actual time is defined clearly so we’re not forced to rely on terms like ‘several’ to figure out how much time has passed, because depending on who you ask, you’re going to get a different number as to how many ‘several’ is, which would make roleplaying extremely difficult.

Well, Erevien makes the point that the Horde got nothing. You are just listing things the Horde already had and still has. That does not run counter to his argument.

The Horde did not get anything - they just kept what they had.

The difference is that Silverpine belonged to Lordaeron, was entirely controlled by the Forsaken and the Horde, and then parts were given to the Worgen. The Horde did lose ground in Silverpine.

And if blizz is really planning on giving the Worgen gilneas(which is great mind you) than the forsaken are going to be in even dire straits when they have an entire nation on their literal doorstep full of angry wolf men

I hear what you’re saying, but this would be rough for role-players. For those playing humans, to have each expansion last 3-5 years, with space in between, would simply be unplayable. Your character would age and have to be retired too quickly.

Except that it never actually was.

During Vanilla, the Horde only controlled portions of Silverpine. Shadowfang Keep was controlled by Arugal, Ambermill was controlled by the Kirin Tor, feral worgen controlled Pyrewood Village and Undead Gnolls controlled by Thule Ravenclaw, ruled over Fenris Isle and its keep.

By the time Cataclysm rolled around the Forsaken had taken more territory in Silverpine but they still didn’t control regions like Shadowfang Keep, Fenris Isle or Ambermill. The Forsaken frontline had marched up to Shadowfang Keep, but had not taken it, because after Godfrey shot Sylvanas in the back, he and his two other allies (Lord Walden and Baron Ashbury) were easily able to take and hold the keep for themselves.

We don’t know the state of Silverpine throughout the events of MoP, WoD and Legion, but while we know Crowley and the Gilneas Liberation Front had withdrawn from Silverpine, the Bloodfang Pack continued to fight for territory they considered to be theirs. By the time BFA rolled around, the Bloodfang Pack controlled Fenris Isle and the Keep, which as of the end of the Fourth War, they still control it, along with Shadowfang Keep.

So Silverpine has always been contested. It’s never been fully under Horde control, but the Horde has managed to claim much of the region for themselves, including Ambermill after they slaughtered the Kirin Tor defenders during the Cataclysm.

Also worth noting that the southern regions of Silverpine is the territory of Gilneas. Darius Crowley holds the deeds and titles to all of the territory there. Granted, no one is expecting the Forsaken to honor Darius’s claims, but he still owns the land. Lordaeron took advantage of the fact that Darius was too busy fighting a civil war (followed by serving time in prison) to stop Lordaeron from performing an illegal land-grab, which is why Lordaeron was holding onto the territory when the kingdom fell to the Scourge.
