If Tinkers are a new class I have faith it will be good… probably too good at the start. Every class needs some work though. He’s hoping we get classes back in full and our talents define our specs again instead of specs defining our talents.
First, we have “tinkers” in the game already… it’s a profession called Engineering. Between Engineering, the Mechagnomes as a playable race, and Mechagon island quests, if they added “Tinker” as a class it would be just a bit too heavy handed and make me feel like the “Steampunk” feel is being forced down my throat whether I want it or not. I’ve always been drawn to the “sword & sorcery” aspect of WoW, and while I’m glad Engineering is in the game for those into it, I prefer it to stay something I can choose how heavily to interact with.
Second, Blizzard is struggling massively with class/spec design and I don’t even want to think about possibly adding new classes until they correct the design of what we already have in the game. Let’s not compound and already complex issue.
Tinkers have been around forever. Steampunk isn’t being force down your throat. The are a WC3 class. Tanks with robot arm backpacks(like WC3) holding swords and shields while they use gadgets to tank, ranged DPS with stationary turrets and a healer using tech and heal bots sounds really really fun to me.
It would not take away from the game’s fantasy because tinker is the last class left from warcraft that has NOT been added to the game.
Thank you very much for taking a comment that talks about how “it would feel like to me” and making it sound like I said “it would definitely” push the steampunk theme. There is a distinction I tried carefully to convey, even going so far as to talk about the concept there ARE people who enjoy that sort of thing.
Kindly acknowledge the entirety of my comments.
If you want a mail user that uses guns…That is already in game…It is called Hunter…you know…what you are on right now…
Your response I responded to was :
Again as I just said…there are 3 ranged mail wearing specs…so there are plenty.
Where has blizz said there will be no new melee? Also you are ignoring the fact I said TANK not DPS…Read along and comprehend my man…
And your point is? If people don’t read your post and think you said something based off comment why should I care?
In my opinion you just sound sour cause you think tinkers will water down the engineering profession. News flash all professions have been watered down and suck donkey balls. Tinkers will be great. The more tank/healers the better.
There are only two classes that wear mail, so, no.
If you want to drag specs into this as a qualifier, I can play along, there are currently nine plate wearing melee, nine cloth casters, a million leather users and six mail users.
One of the weakest arguments I’ve seen, but please continue.
I would play one.
That being said, it’s not my top choice for a new class. Not even 2nd or 3rd. I wholeheartedly agree with you OP, that it would feel like it clashes with engineering. I also agree with you on your take on demon hunters- demon hunter was introduced as a flavor without substance and even taking stuff from other classes and specs to give it what little it had. I honestly feel instead of new classes we should do more with the classes we have now. Legion order halls were a step in the right direction, though they had no impact on gameplay.
If you’re going to respond to my posts, yes you should read it.
And I couldn’t care less about “watering down” the Engineering profession. Again, if you were bothering to read before typing, you’d see where I stress that “mechanical” isn’t what I prefer in this game. None of my characters are Engineers.
We’re each entitled to our own preferences, but we should strive not to be obnoxious about sharing them.
Do you know the difference between a SPEC and a Class…?
Because you literally linked where I said spec but then said class…
You are saying that there are none by saying there is a niche needing filled, but it is filled. By Marks, BM and ELE Shaman…
There are however no MAIL TANKS which is what I said. Do I need to break out the crayons here, because I cannot get any more specific without them…
I really don’t want Tinkers.
Apparently, you don’t know either, and don’t understand the math behind that.
Reread what you replied to, as your arguments so far range from irrelevant to incoherent.
Okay, so I guess now I have to tell this story …
Some years ago, between marriages, I seriously dated a woman with three daughters (some of whom were also my students), all of whom used the term “tinker” as a euphemism for the va-hay-hay (if you follow me).
Because of this, I doubt if I could ever seriously play a “tinker” character.
Okay, so maybe I DIDN’T have to tell that story. But I did, so there it is.
In all seriousness (though I am kinda serious about the first paragraph, and that IS a true story), I’d have trouble seeing “Tinker” as anything but an exaggerated Engineer. We have Engineering as a profession, what will Tinker bring to the table that is any different?
I remain a skeptic.
I’d like science based class everything else is religion, magic or fantasy. and it can easily fill every role. the only reason i haven’t leaned toward necromancy is becuase i would like it to be like Overlord. and Blizz could never make it that cool
Tinker looks cool, and there is not a techie class currently in WoW nor something remotely like it
I think designing a class around one single race is not a great idea. Look at mine. It’s a whole big mess. All because its soul, its identity is Pandaren yet I and most monks I assume are not. I see many more monks than I do Pandaren. Yet it’s a universal class. Even Zandalari can be them! The mortal enemy of the monk race learned it in a week. I mean I guess.
I said spec in my response clearly…as it adds more to the number. I never once conflated the two despite what you said. There are 3 ranged mail specs. That is more than enough. There are only 6 tanks in game all together. 1 Mail healer. So yeah that is WHY i said there needs to be mail or cloth TANKS. DPS has more than enough representation. Specifically again 3 RANGED MAIL SPECS
why specs? Because now you cannot count just classes since each one plays differently, and it has always been by spec when figuring out rankings. You want to boil it down to get rid of just one for some arbitrary reason.
name a class that doesn’t have a dot
bad argument is bad.
So does that mean every class steps on warlocks?
