Is that the content you are really so passionate to protect? I agree it was fun for portions of it, and it made the journey to raids a lot more interesting. (Until everyone had Warlock summoning alts in jump puzzle spots)
However, encouraging players to not play on their main is a very obvious game design flaw.
I had 5 60s when Classic ended. Not everyone is like me, in fact, a large portion of players only like having 1 character.
Nope. I didn’t like the long level grind. I made my warlock so I could play my warlock. I didn’t make a warlock so I can get it to level 60 then level again. Contrary to popular belief, there are some people who didn’t only play the game to kill wolves in Deathknell.
I absolutely played on a pvp server. During DMF weeks, my guild as a whole would rush DMF and slaughter everything in sight and cast a mage portal to quickly get the hell out of there. That did not matter though because there was always 2 to 3 low level dispellers laying around in ghost form. They did not pvp kill us to remove our world buffs, they just wanted to dispell them to do nothing more than troll.
I never had an issue with someone killing me in pvp and me losing my world buffs. I always had an issue with 2 or 3 opposite faction corpses were laying at every inn waiting for someone to port in with world buffs so they could dispell them. That is the toxic crap people are talking about.
Top guilds, and even good guilds look at logs for recruits. If half the people are using world buffs for their logs, then your choice becomes use world buffs also or never get into a top, or good guild; always be in an average guild or lower.
The playing field has to be level across the board. The game was not designed for raids to be done with full raid forces of world buffs. Anyone needing that crutch just plain sucks anyway and needs to be in the average guilds.
I have tried to explain it, but you just refuse to get anyone else’s point of view so I am going to go ahead and adopt the stance that I have seen several other people already adopt when debating with a brick wall. World buffs aren’t happening. I win. The end.
blizzard is not going to suddenly reverse their decision on this.
Blizzard absolutely could reverse their decision. I highly doubt they will because the change with SoM appear to be a direct response to the surveys they sent out, and therefore likely enjoy at least a plurality of support.
The exception to the rule proves the rule, man. For every 1 video of naxx with world buffs, there were 1,000s of clears of MC, BWL, ZG, AQ, without them, and wasn’t until Phase 6 people had a hard enough raid to even warrant seeking buffs.
Don’t try and exaggerate to make your case that these top guilds were actually utilizing world buffs in every phase and every raid tier because it didn’t happen.
I am a pro WB andy. I enjoy collecting them, and playing with them. Maybe I’m insane, idk. But i enjoy them. My only gripe is nobody was ever forced to play with them, warcraftlogs even made a no WB section. However, what you are doing is taking away others abilities to play with them. Which is a different story. I don’t want to take anything away from you.
I hear this a lot also, but i don’t need the buffs. We wiped as a guild with world buffs before and continued on and completed the raid without them. It is just fun to once a week juice your character up and go smash. That’s it.
this is 100 percent true, I most certainly was stacking full wbuffs in 2005. I dont hate the change though, idk. I’m too old to chase wbuffs now. the Dispel meta literally made me quit classic tho so…
And I’m okay with that too . It’s seasonal, hopefully they will have different little stuff every year. I just don’t want the core of the game to be changed. Like the leveling, or 40 mans.
