That’s right. I’m calling you out! :rage:

For years warlock players have been complaining about how DH stole from them etc. But hark! What’s this?! Evoker is here and at face value, looks to almost completely usurp the mage class. Give Evoker Time Warp and it would be a complete replacement.

Now I’ll be happy to eat crow if when DF launches and Evokers are massively different to mage. At least different enough to not just bring a mage soley for Time Warp. But if that doesn’t happen and people are like, “why are you still playing mage?”, then warlocks will have officially lost all right to complain about DH ever again.

did they delete and revamp an entire mage spec tho. along with destroying all your cool glyphs.

My fear is they’ll do worse. They’ll leave it but it’ll be redundant. Like a vestige of an old style superseded class.

also even if there’s theme overlap, nothing is being taken away from mages to make evokers cool, DHs sharing some motifs with warlocks was never the issue.

We have 1 tier where mages aren’t RDPS gods and everyone loses their minds.

I dunno I’ve been watching a good amount of Evoker footage now that alpha is out, and never once thought “that’s just like a new and better version of mage!”

But then again I don’t spend my day grasping at any reason I can find to be poutraged.

But mages have Time Warp and Intel Buff and Food Tables …

… yeah, that’s about it lol. After 8 years maining a mage I called it quits 2 months ago and made my Warlock my main. Looking at the speculated mage talents, won’t be going back when DF hits either.

Jokes on you, nothing will usurp us Mages.

Evokers can turn into sheep just like anything else.

TBH this is what i’m seeing anecdotally as well. For every 1 mage character I see out in the wild, I see now at least 5 warlock players. Without looking at some random stat website, it seems to me that its still shaman at the very bottom with mage only slightly above that in terms of number of players, with warlocks vastly outstripping both.

Tbf, alot of those are mostly fotm rerollers because lock has 2 really strong specs at the moment-- not because locks have superior class design (which is debatable).

But yea, the older classes could stand to be updated, in terms of graphics as well as design.
