So basically you idea is another system which doesn’t benefit geared players since they usually don’t need loot, you just expect them to come along and carry you to free epics because somehow you feel entitled, because of course they should want to give their time and effort while also getting to spend gold on consumes.
Thats probably the biggest difference between SR and GDKP, and why many SR raids often struggle with content compared to GDKPs, of course this refers mainly to pugs, Guild runs are a completely different thing, which perhaps you should look into. Either way your idea doesn’t fix that problem, it’s why GDKPs work well, there is motivation for both geared and ungeared players, as well as people have motivation to complete the raid.
Also as SOD showed, RMT actually appears to have gone up with the GDKP ban, so if getting rid of RMT is your goal, you will likely need to look elsewhere, also we soon found that GDKP hatters struggled even more to find groups because they often didn’t make the DPS checks which began to be required for most raids, allowing them to start a whole new rant on how evil gear and dps checks were.
Amazing statement. You can only compare two things if they are different. If you have two games which are actually the same game - you don’t have two things. You have one thing, and you’re schizophrenic.
In this case, the comparison is that the demand for gold in IRL dollars equates to 10x as many dollars on Era when compared to SOD.
I can only assume you’re not familiar with the phrase. I won’t hold that against you for the time being.
Here ya go:
~A false equivalence or false equivalency is an informal fallacy in which an equivalence is drawn between two subjects based on flawed or false reasoning. This fallacy is categorized as a fallacy of inconsistency. Colloquially, a false equivalence is often called “comparing apples and oranges.”
The “apples and oranges fallacy” is a colloquial term for the logical fallacy of false equivalence. This fallacy occurs when two things are compared as if they are the same, even though they have significant differences. The term refers to the idea that apples and oranges are both fruits, but they are not interchangeable. ~
I’m familiar with the phrase. The phrase does not mean that you can only compare two things if they are the same object (since that would be insane).
Moreover, the comparison is ultimately of dollars to dollars. Consuming for a raid in Era costs 10x as many dollars as on SOD. Consuming is far and away your top recurring gold cost to raid on Era.
If you want to tell me about some uber gold sink that they added to SOD in order to make up for this massive gap, then feel free. I’ve been asking for someone to do this for a while, but instead you’re just trying to quote your Socrates poster and pretend I can’t compare Era to SOD under any circumstance because they are “not the same game”.
Well that’s something at least. Let me know when you understand it.
It means you can’t compare the towing capacity of a 1993 honda civic to that have a 2024 ford f550 diesel on the grounds they’re both motored vehicles.
That’s crazy. Retail cash shop mounts cost lots more than Era shop mounts. Obviously those retail players are swiping their CC more for mounts in Retail than they are for Era.
I have no stake in this argument and don’t even know the context, but you absolutely can. Both are motorized vehicles capable of the task of towing, even if one is very clearly outclassed by the other. You cannot, however, compare the towing capacity of a 1993 Honda Civic and California Redwood. They both are not capable of performing that task and, therefore, cannot be compared.
This thread is now about analyzing the phrase “comparing apples and oranges”. We shall hotly debate this with the fury of a million nerds shouting in outrage when Marvel doesn’t get an origin story quite right.
You can do it with both but one was designed with towing in mind and the other was made for strictly for passengers, is far older and has tons of mileage on it. I could tow with the civic if I took the appropriate steps but I couldn’t sit there in disbelief that it doesnt tow as much as a ford diesel truck because they both have trailer hitches.
They’re two fundamentally different vehicles.
If you think that then you are not fit to have a discussion with and your responses pretty much prove it.
I understand. Unfortunately it’s actually not frivolous because the entire crux of his argument is that I cannot compare SOD and Era for any reason because they are different. He’s saying I’m making a false equivalence by comparing SOD to Era but won’t provide the reason why. He feels it is a false equivalence by default.
A conclusion that you just reached by expounding a detailed COMPARISON between the vehicles. You are insane.
It was over at apples and oranges but then I gotta waste my time and bust out the hand puppets because the people who hit reply are literally immune to common sense and reason. Then they tell you common sense, basic logic and reason are “insane”.
I have no intention on engaging wth that. It is far more important that we acknowledge that we can compare apples and oranges, especially with regards to taste. No disrespect to apples, but oranges are way more delicious!
And yet a 1993 honda civic is still capable of towing, in a far more meaningful way than other motorized vehicles. It’s just not as a good as the pickup trick but definitely better than a riding mower. There is a clearly implied order of capability, which means you can absolutely compare them. The original design intent is kind of irrelevant.
A hammer is far better than the back of a screwdriver for driving in a nail, but if I don’t have a hammer I can still use the screwdriver in a pinch. I can’t say the same if I’m holding a marshmallow in my hand
Both vehicles have engines, seats, wheels, pedals and trailer hitches on them yet the Ford can tow 15 tons and the Civic can pull a half a ton and that’s when the car was new. That’s a big discrepancy - like the one Kek can’t grasp between Era and SoD.
Now I come in and say the discrepancy is because the Ford book with the towing information was purposefully tampered with to make it look like it can tow more (cheating) and they are actually capable of towing the same amount because of what they have in common. Anyone who wants to prove me wrong can only the reference the book and attempt to argue that it wasn’t tampered with.
Anyone who tries to talk about the larger, more capable diesel motor, the much beefier suspension, dual wheels, the trailer towing package and 30k tow hook are considered “insane”.
This is why you dont do apples vs orange comparison and arguments in legit discussions. You do that when you know you have zero leverage and no argument.
That’s the convo Kek is having. You don’t seem bothered by the bad faith argument they’re making. Darn it yo, both Venus and Earth are planets in our solar system that orbit the sun but there’s no humans on Venus, just earth. What gives? Clearly the gold buyers bought the planet and wont let anyone live on it. Literally the same logic - and Im the insane one.
Maybe after they do a full comparison between lakes and donuts and how they’re the same in terms of things existing on the surface of the planet Ill ask them to take a look at the real problem they have.
How is it you can get rid of GDKP and still have RMT but if you got rid of RMT you could still have GDKPs? Its been said a hundred times, people just hate GDKPs.
Okay, just do that because you cant say or do anything else.
