I wouldn’t even bother with +2s unless you really think you’re not capable of doing higher. I was pushing +14 keys in sub 400 ilvl, and got keystone hero on this character at like 420’ish ilvl. Gear comes very fast when you do better keys, and I think it took me 2 weeks of actual solid key stone runs to get 441 ilvl from my starting sub 400 ilvl (I didn’t play season 1 and just came back).
TLDR, you should be doing +7s or higher if you can, only do low keys like +2s to push your key, and the ilvl doesn’t matter, those keys are trivial.
I think one thing to consider is people at lower item level also do not have a full mastery of their class yet, that 30 item levels is probably a bit of a crutch too, to help. (If it’s an alt of a class you main then no worries)
I’d just look at M0 gear rewards and give a thumb measure from there. Same thing with LFR and such. Something drops 390 gear, maybe you wanna be 380, or 365 if you are pretty confident.
Meanwhile I was just in a 6 with a 390 pally who couldn’t survive single pack trash pulls. The OP asks a difficult question because it really depends on the player, and if they are here asking a question like this I’m doubtful they have a lot of experience.
When i ding 70 i buy the crafted greens for every slot i can and thats usually enough to get into +2s if a little rough. Now that time rifts are out id prolly do a couple of those just to see what drops
I think it also kind of depends on the spec and how comfortable you are with keys too. In my case, I am pretty experienced so i know what to expect, but for your average player that doesn’t do keys that often then it’s pretty difficult especially when you have no idea how to play the class.
M+2 is the exact same as M0 except for the affix. And after that they scale mob health and damage by about 10% per level until a certain point where scaling gets more harsh.
I think the hardest thing about tanking them is just being confident enough. But for the most part I played with very helpful people at low key levels.
You can buy a set of 376 gear off the AH, grab a key and keep dropping it to +2 and get off the ground in no time that way if you want to do it that way.
I’m sure it’s probably inefficient but it’s what I did with my tank and this priest.
the problem with low ilvl on a tank is you are going to burn thru resources quickly and will have a hard time holding agro and ur dps will likely pull for u because you can’t handle huge packs of mobs
