Ignore Haters: New CD Manager is a GREAT step in the right direction

I had to create weak auras to replace the missing functionality that they removed from the personal resource display.

Even major class cool downs for hero talents aren’t included in the new cooldown manager for whatever reason. It might track the spell itself but not buffs received from the spell.

It’s a bit like if when they added the in game quest tracker to replace questie but the in game one removes quest arrows and didn’t let you change which quest to track.

The new CD manager is better than the sea of buffs that’s for sure. The other massive improvement is being a natural component to the UI. We’re now one step closer to console.

It’s “a” step in the right direction. Not a good one, and definitely not a great one. The current implementation has the feel of entry-level intern work. Actually probably even worse than that.

Forcing default locations for abilities with zero options for adjusting ordering or show/hide certain spells? I mean, this probably wouldn’t even be bad if the ordering even made sense…

Holy paladin baseline CD manager implies a greater important to Lay on Hands than Crusader Strike. The warrior default layout is also a mess.

What a disaster of a feature implementation. Feels a lot like an AI generated feature. Yikes.

Which is it you want? People to give feedback, or people to sit on their hands and accept what’s been given? How is this feature supposed to improve without the very criticism you’re discouraging? This entire post makes zero sense.

It’s a great idea on paper and in theory. However it was executed EXTREMELY poorly.

I looked at it…looks fine to me. I doubt i’ll use it much personally, but glad theyre adding it to the game.

Now…add Farmhud to the base UI.

When they were working on the UI change, I thought it needed more action bars.
seems like they added 3 more or so, 8 its pretty much perfect.
There was no need to insult them and toss fits about it. They need to hear suggestions, not fit tossing.
The fit tossing comes after theyve been given months and are doing the old thing of doubling down until enough subs are lost…
Give the feedback…give them a chance to hear it and respond. Dont toss fits less than 48 hours after the changes are made.

Yep. It looks like an action bar, but doesn’t even come close to functioning like one. I am finding it hard to understand why they pushed this out without giving us the ability to add/remove abilities, or even to just move abilities from one slot to another. It’s ludicrous.

Completely useless in its current form. I don’t know why they wasted development time on something that’s just objectively worse than action bars we’ve had since classic.

I’m not nearly as negative about this as everyone else is, because I find the buff/proc timer part of this useful, in that I do not need to download separate weakauras to see the buffs for every class that I play. FOR ME, it is a good basic function, and that’s all I need.

HOWEVER

  1. I can see where everyone else is coming from on the rest of it. The Cooldowns are literally just…the spells on our hotbars, it’s pretty redundant. and I can see how the lack of ability to customize what gets tracked would turn off someone who is heavy into WeakAuras.

  2. Fire Mage’s Trackers not showing Hot Streak is an egregious oversight. I imagine if something like Hot Streak is missing, then there are definitely other Procs/Buffs from other classes that are missing as well.

I used it once, got disconnected (fortunately out of battle), and when I returned it had been switched off. Haven’t put it back since.
