Tbf a lot of the players who have been playing for ages tend to be not so great
This is what unites us all.
You don’t even have to understand mechanics for a 20 either
Option d: everyone playing an obscure 20 yr old mmo is in fact a nobody
What’s a good player? I’m KSH and I wouldn’t call myself good. There’s still a lot of stuff I can improve on and am improving on.
I think a good player is a player who you want to add to your friends list and keep inviting to content. It doesn’t matter what level that content is. I can do +20 keys all day with sweat lords, but it will never be as fun as doing a lowbie key with someone in like 440 gear getting all hype about a new piece of gear that dropped.
the problem with the type of question in wow is that the idea of being “good” is a very bifurcated idea.
you are either “good” or you “suck”, in many people’s eyes.
as in, you either have a 99 parse or you suck.
this suggests that the person with a 98 parse “sucks”, which is ludicrous. they are measurably better than 98% of the players.
if you have reached KSM, you are in the top ~25% of players. at least by this measure, you are “better” than ~75% of the players.
some people post on here that “20s are easy” and/or “everyone is running 20s”.
the first statement is an opinion and for that person it might be accurate. the second statement is demonstrably false. fewer than 10% of the player base has completed all dungeons on 20.
one of the reasons this game has been around so long is that there are so many different ways to play it. and there are so many different goals to set in the game for each player.
Think about this, if most keys you see are 20s and 20s are the top 9% and up, then it goes to reason that a large majority of the population either doesn’t pug keys or has all but disappeared. Thus leaving a majority of the die hards left for the end of this expansion. And we’re still about 5 weeks into this season with 4/5 months left.
Also yeah that you either are good or suck is a very dysfunctional and overly simplistic mindset people have. To them there seems to be no grey, no inbetween, it’s either people approve of me and have checked the checkbox and told me I’m good or I’m terrible. It makes no sense to think like this and seems more like a teenager or early twenties mindset. There is ALWAYS room to improve and nobody is born knowing how to do everything.
its this one
Depends on how fast you get it. If you’ve been trying to get it all season so far on the same character and just now got it. No.
If you get it on every character you run keys on without having ran every dungeon on tyrannical and fortified, you’re probably better than a majority of the wow population.
Yeah but we have like 5 months left of this season and people push keys for the entire season, so there’s not really a rush.
I think a good player is somebody that actively tries to beat their own personal bests
so it looks different for different people.
I’m pretty good, yeah, but that’s not required. Just pick a DPS class and start applying to groups.
This is how I managed to get myself to beat Torghast solo. Just kept pushing beyond what I was comfortable with and smashed my face through it.
That’s awesome! ![]()
I’m still trying to beat this mage tower myself.
Oh yeah that I can’t do. Must require like 300 apm cause I can’t get past the first phase of the fury challenge. Even the Havoc one seemed impossible to do and buggy.
I’ve made some progress where I get to the second phase now on this Prot Paladin so I’m getting there. Only at 50 some attempts too. I think I have a bit over 100 tries before I beat the feral druid one.
There are a lot of good players that never reach KSM. The fact is everything in this game is pretty easy. It doesn’t take much to be good at WoW. The main factors between the elite players and the noobs are a coordinated group and voice chat.
I was fortunate to pug an incredible raid leader of another guild into my guilds normal raid run this week and he was so concise and clear on the mic, I aspire to be that way for my team someday.
This sounds so dumb but my voice is very small and I don’t think people really hear me well. Haha
honestly anyone with two hands and a brain can get KSM or KSH. neither really mean anything.
I don’t completely agree with this. First, despite people likely getting upset about hearing it, is that not everyone is equal in this world (there are people that are smarter and more capable than others will ever be). Second, some people can play this game for years and years and their best is literally struggling to get through heroic if that and some not even that far.
I mean, this season, KSH ain’t exactly a big flex… but it probably means you don’t keyboard turn and have a couple of buttons bound to your bar, sure.
