If you Shard, you'll fail

No, I mean how did you reach the conclusion that the number of people who would quit/not play over sharding is limited to the hundreds?

GL playing with 10,000 players then

Ppl who want classic to not have sharding (to the point where they wont play) are the hardest of HARDCORE #nochanger’s. Those are also the ppl who want classic the most. It is a safe to assume that if these ppl are willing to quit the game (that they want soo badly) due to one feature, they are probably the ones on forums such as this one spreading their opinion.

If you want data, youll have to w8 for classic launch, as i am not a time lord :upside_down_face:

Anyone have the achievement from Chromie that can answer this? We’ve gotta have at least one Timelord that can find out for us!

I guess he does though, seeing how his post got twice the upvotes as yours. Also the fact that Blizzard has admitted in an interview that they know the majority don’t want it

It’s a massive change if they kept it for the entire game and every zone and all that. I get it because I’ve been playing since November 2004.

Having sharding for the starters zones and for just the first couple weeks is fine. If blizz adds any further or keeps it any longer then get out your pitch forks. Otherwise this is getting blown way out of proportion.

Because upvotes in one thread is a great example of the majority. Google sample size and get back to me.

No we don’t.

Imagine 1000 people needing to kill Hogger.

Being greedy. Classic wow will compose of three kind of players, those who left the game for good since it changed, those who to this day still play on private servers and people who want to play a version of the game they didn’t have a chance to play.

In the long run, the first two are to ones who will bring the most revenue and making something to anger them will result in the first group leaving the game for good again and the second to return to their private servers or a new one.

It’s actually much more important than YOU think.

Sharding has no place in Classic and should not in any form be implemented in Classic.

NO SHARDING

Found the private server kiddo talking.

I get what he’s saying and it’s selfish. Trying to have a launch where thousands of people are trying to login, create new toons and all doing the same quests and killing the same mobs sounds horrible and unplayable. This is exactly how TBC was on launch for the first 2 weeks. It was literally unplayable due to the lag and constant server crashes.

People are ok with this because of “omg maaaaa vanillllaaaaa” ranting and crying. It’s selfish and you should feel bad. You are saying you want an authentic experience but in doing so it would cause a lot of people to not want to play.

I can bet you’d be one of the first people here crying on that kind of launch because you can’t play.

Something about cake and eating it too?

We know what we are asking for and we are prepared to pay the price.

Some of us where here for the early 2000s server crashes after the game experienced massive success. The servers can handle a lot more now than they could then by simple virtue of better technology.

We can discuss this until we are blue in the face but at the end of the day it’s all up to Blizzard. They will do what they deem as necessary for the health of the launch and game.

It’s one of those take it or leave it things. If Blizzard doesn’t do sharding for launch then that’s fine. I’ll still play regardless because I enjoyed the game back then.

Never played on a Private server but I’ve played since December ‘04. I’ve seen how this game has changed throughout every expansion and Sharding / CRZ killed any identity servers had.

That is a horrendous attitude to have when there are literal free alternatives that will give the Classic community what they want and you better believe private servers will launch brand new servers under the banner of, “We got it right even though we’re twenty guys in a discord.”

If Blizzard doesn’t get it right this project will fall flat on its face and they are going to have no one to blame but themselves.

Did you really need to be that rude? I happen to agree with the OP. If you can’t be civil, could you at least make an attempt to be funny? Jeez man

Edit: Nevermind, I just skimmed more of your posts in this thread and I think you’re probably just going to insist on being a turd sandwich. Cheers, do your thing.

When people approach me with attitude, I respond in kind. Could I have said it different? Probably but I don’t really care when people are willing to be selfish and would rather have it their way instead of what is for the greater good.

I’ve tried to bring reason into this conversation but it goes in one ear and out the other because of nostalgia and feelings.

  1. He didnt approach you specifically, at all. He “approached” blizzard.

  2. Voicing his concern, correct or otherwise, is not selfish. It did not sound at all to me like he was trying to coerce blizz into doing things his way, rather he was indicating a potential pitfall. I think you probably knew that.

  3. You don’t bring reason to a discussion by lobbing acid at the OP right out of the gate, so that scaffolding you’re building is a little shakey.

  4. I probably could have been nicer to you too, so those points above apply to me as well, and I have room to improve also :stuck_out_tongue:
