If you Shard, you'll fail

Sharding will be bad for the longterm, but for launch, it could exist temporarily, although the chaos at the beginning can be fun. Also frustrating, so people will be split on opinion. BUT… outside of low level zones, sharding will suck. It will kill good world pvp. STV better not be sharded.

Anything past the first two zones is unacceptable. Sharding shouldn’t be necessary with original server caps.

I don’t know why I hadn’t considered this. They can just take the information from classic and improve private servers.

If sharding occurs and stays I’m sure loads of people will just take off back to private servers afterwards especially with the corrections made from classics release.

IMO, anything past the first zone, the 1-10 zones, is unacceptable.

Yep very too much.

To be fair, I’ve looked at the profile of my toon that had full tier 2 in vanilla and I have zero vanilla titles as far as I can tell. Cleared Ony, MC, and BWL more times than I can count. Cleared a bunch in BC too. My warrior alt from that time doesn’t get credit from MC either, and I know I cleared it with that toon as well.

Not sure how that calculates. Maybe I’m doing it wrong.

It’s a massive change.
No changes.

It’s not the change this community wants, but the change it needs.

That’s what GD keeps saying about people quitting for various reasons…

I’d like to know what exactly Acti-Blizz has done that makes you think they won’t do stuff behind our backs and then mock us for being too unintelligent to understand their masterful game design.

Yep, a lot of The guys still playing and trolling forums are going to play whatever blizzart puts in front of them. They are still sub’d playing retail, and will stay sub’d, so really they don’t matter as far as revenue is concerned. I personally am not subbed and I probably won’t sub if there is sharding. I’ll just play a different game, I’m not addicted to the game like some of you assume we are. Is sharding the end of the world? Nah, but it’s not a cohesive world that I remember and would want to play, let alone pay to play.

Those with the instant gratification mentality already have retail, are probably already sub’d, and sharding or not won’t change their minds about to sub or not. Those who are not sub’d, want a challenging game, and have patience to wait for any ques, I mean look how long we have waited already for our game back.

They added pay to win mechanisms, they bastardized our hard earned character levels, and started selling gold.

This is exactly my point. Stuff they said they would never do or sanction because it hurts the gameplay experience of an MMORPG is now a feature we practically take for granted.

If people don’t think the exact same thing they did to this game won’t happen to the Classic servers they need to go read some Hegel. We’ve seen all of this play out before. That is why many of us are so “toxic” about people asking for things that weren’t in Classic. We’ve seen where asking for these things goes in the end and we don’t want to go back.

They actually probably should shard at the beginning - temporarily. I know players look at it as a bad thing - but trust me, you will want it at launch (especially with streamers now days) and if you think you won’t you have no idea what you are in for.

Sharding weeks after launch however would without a doubt kill the original feel of the game - but if they want a smooth launch, or even close to a smooth launch, they will need to shard.

Nah, if you wanna play right now and don’t have patience to wait for que or wait for mob to respawn, you can go play retail.

classic is still going to be what people want, GAMEPLAY wise. so yea people that want an official vanilla style wow game will 100% be playing.

OP’s 41 Likes to your 18.

Looks like he does speak for the majority, or at least a majority agree with him.

Sharding wasn’t in vanilla, so it shouldn’t be in Classic.

That is the end all be all.

Yes they will…and the population of those players is about the same pop as this section of the forums, a few hundred at most.

Most never played vanilla, most only know a world with sharding… and those who did play vanilla, want to play SOoo badly that they are making forum posts about feeling physical pain about not getting the game asap. Im gonna take a wild guess and say those ppl wont be leaving cuz of sharding.

Do i want sharding,? Hell no! I want server crashes and 5 fps with my 1080ti…but im still gonna play if sharding is there cuz private servers dont last long and i dont wanna throw away my time and effort.

Source on this data?
