If you post on a toon with no experience,

what level is considered acceptable, and how many achievement points are required to meet your needs?

you can voice your opinion on any subject.

To be fair, a person that experienced D-day would have a rather narrow view of the event due to the whole trying to make sure you and your friends stay alive thing.

The luxury of not having experienced a horrible event like that is that you can piece together many stories to form a more accurate depiction of the event as a whole.

I’m not arguing that in an activity that you are actually performing that experience isn’t more useful–because it is. I’m speaking purely of the discussion of ideas.

Which is all that is relevant on the forums. I probably should have clarified.

You can also be called out for uninformed opinions. It goes both ways.

Interesting how this thought process doesn’t apply to real life.

What if a person’s argument is, say, that Classic raiding was more complex than modern raiding, and their posting toon has no relevant achievements and no BFA kills higher than LFR?

Authority indicates very little about the quality of an argument.

True, you may have learned it from someone, but if it’s correct, it is correct.

Authorities take the wrong position all the time.

They’re not by definition wrong, and it may lend itself to a better point of view, but it isn’t indicative of much.

That’s pretty much exactly what I was getting at in my post. When I see someone say something like that I check their armory and if they don’t have experience with what they are claiming… I am gonna say something.

same goes for you an mythic raiding since you havent completed one since SOO you shouldnt speak anything about mythic raids.

I dont know exactly what auditing a toon is supposed to accomplish though? Its not like we are gonna fool blizz or anything, and arguing doesnt accomplish anything except arguing.

I just assume everyone is an alt and that makes life a lot simpler, because I just discuss within the topic. I do appreciate when someone points out when a poster is talking out of their bottom though.

Then the burden is on them to support their claim with specific examples. If they cannot do so, you point out their lack of evidence to refute their claim.

If you want to take it to the next level, you provide counter examples which expressly demonstrate their claim as false.

How do you hide achievements? I’ve always wondered why this main has 7k achievement points but in game it’s over 16k.

Kelgar…did you seriously just change your forum alt to try to bring that up? In a thread you just posted in?

Why didn’t you just stay on the same toon you just posted on?

I’m not swapping characters just because you want me to prove something. Blizz stuck me on this one and I’m not farming forum rep again.

My experience also extends to those I watch play in the same room. So while I may be too busy to run high keys, I literally watch over someone’s shoulder as they do. I used to be a progression raider prior to my current job. So I do have previous experience with that.

You want to know my main, all you have to do is ask. I have no qualms linking her or talking about things from my perspective. Take it with a grain of salt if you want to judge based off of your own criteria. All I ask is that you don’t insult someone for their opinion. Just ignore it if you don’t think they hold to your standards.

I think you got stuck halfway through the OP and ignored the last prt about people who get defensive when you point out that they evidently don’t have grounds on which to speak. I.e. the evergreen “this is just a forum alt, I get Gladiator/Cutting Edge on my main” defense.

If it does not fit, you must acquit.

And this is where there is a key difference.

A person with experience, can read a book.

A person who reads a book, can’t necessarily go get experience.

It makes the person with experience have a much much greater chance of having more information, and therefor being more accurate.

This is why, to me, they aren’t interchangeable.

But the validity of the knowledge comes into question. Also the difference between knowledge and experience is considerable. I have knowledge on raiding and high end content from former experience. I am not going to give advice or an opinion on current raiding content though because I lack experience doing it even though I can sure look up the fights.

I didn’t expect this but there are tons of people in here getting second-hand defensive about posting on alts. Calm down, guys.

Max level.
