Best thing to do is go back to retail. You can have all the server transfers you want. Pick up one of those nifty 4.99$ pets too while ur at it.

If you lose a player due to transer or quitting itâs the sameâŚ-1 player for faction/server. Why not let people enjoy the fruits of their labor after spending so much time leveling/gearing a character?
Sadly, they will probably go the money route rather than whatâs practical.
Merge what? Theres only 1 alliance dominated PvP server. And you canât merge high pop servers without putting players in 10k+ queues again without layering. If you added up all the PvP servers itâs probably at best 60/40 horde. Theres legit no way to balance all the servers unless you force migrations and faction changes.
What is practical? Just stating something is meaningless. Please give your reasons.
I already said⌠merge servers. No, wonât bring 100% perfect balance. But would be far better than letting everyone transfer.

They were offered because of how many people were playing, not because realms were dying. They were still adding new realms actively because of how full the earliest realms were. The biggest reason people asked for the ability to move back then was things like people who would find out their real life friends played but on another realm, making it impossible to play together as their mains.
This is why we need reasons. Because they can be broken down.
How can you merge servers when most are already overcrowded which is a big part of the problem and all but a couple are Horde dominated, some grossly so?
OP i agree with you wholeheartedly but a word of advice: Donât post this kind of narcissistic crap. Doing so immediately invalidates your argument and makes the rest of us who agree with you look like the bad guys! Calling people whiners will not win anyone to your side. Having good forum edicate can go along way.

I actually played vanilla and I remember the TONS of forum threads about people begging for mergers. Stick around and someone will pop in to back me up⌠there arenât many of us left though, mostly just ignorant retailers.
The stark difference between this forum and the /r/classicwow sub pre-classic wow and post-classic wow is crazy.
Before classic wow launched there was tons of people in the sub more likeminded to me and they all knew their stuff⌠Now that classic is out, all of you retailers have came over and inflated our discussions.

I kind of agree OP, but I think how you put yourself in some aspect of complete self importance turns people off. If paid transfers do happen it means realm balance has been abandoned and that would definitely suck. I do have hope that my realm can turn around for the better and would prefer that through outside efforts on Blizzards part, but if were just shuffling around its going to be 1 massive Alliance server and 1 massive Horde server which would honestly be about the worst outcome.
And classic is vanilla 1.12 so late vanilla.
So paid transfers should happen and will happen.
Yeah, I probably shouldnât have been as volatile as I was, youâre right. But to be fair it is just a projection of my bitterness to how retail was ruined and now the same people who ruined retail are trying to ruin my favorite childhood game I anticipated since the day it was announced.
These guys will be gone by the time shadowlands releases anyway, and when I come to play classic it will be screwed up by a bunch of people who didnât play to stick around anyway and just wanted some temporary relief from p2.

Yes and the smaller servers are the only ones where things are tolerable. I have a character on Earthfury which is medium pop and fairly balanced. Things are fine there. No desire to transfer.
I have an older toon on Kirtonos. That server is completely unplayable and this is where the problem lies. The big, overcrowded, super unbalanced servers. No way a merger will fix that. It would make it worse and at the same time destroy the smaller server which was actually working fine.
So I see your solution as invalid.
I think their is only like 3 or 4 servets that are like that and its because people were stupid enough to follow streamers.
