If you dislike Shaw/Flynn but like Lor’themar/Thalyssra as a couple

That is perfectly okay. Let me try to make it more clear. IF blizzard wants to go this way by including more diverse characters then they need to stop the teen theme and go mature. But they will not so we are stuck with some very bad written story lines in game that really make no sense.

Sorry but I 100% disagree. Just because someone has a connection to a character does not make it pandering. Otherwise everything is pandering. By your logic every gay character regardless of how they are done is pandering.

Eh I can see where you’re going.

I mean at least they’re getting better imo with it.

Unfortunately T rated stuff sells more since it’s a larger market. So shrug

The thing is I don’t consider pandering as some evil thing.

The way I see it is “Well at least people realize my money has some value along with my existence” rather than pretending I don’t exist like it was years ago.

I’d much rather be at least acknowledged

This just feels forced, and very out of left field. No issue with the relationship, as much as I have many issues with how it’s being written and conveyed. Feels a bit like Legend of Korra all over again; all of a sudden two main characters we’ve seen for the entire season/expansion are together in a gay relationship that was never actually built up. It only makes sense when you jump to conclusions based on normal interactions, which is where things can start, but development is needed beyond, “Hmm, people are guessing this might happen, so now it’s true!”

About the only way I see this making sense is if the book develops this over most of its length for it to truly feel justified. And even then, I would still call that poor writing to a degree because all this development is happening outside of the game, and it’s contrary to what every player experienced first hand in the Tiragarde questline. Almost like they want to win points with the relationship technically existing, without actually recognising it on the broadest platform they have for the characters and what most players will know them by.

I like the color blue. I’m being pandered to every time I see the Alliance. Obviously.

Yeah, I think that’s the way they’re going, and I just wish they’d made an effort. Like, show Flynn suffering because Taelia left and like slowly accepting that he likes Shaw more or whatever…some kind of transition. Some kind of recognition that they spent the ENTIRE Tiragarde zone selling this Taelia/Flynn thing so hard before whiplashing me into Flynn with Shaw.

Sigh. I know. I’m asking way too much.

But something can appeal to, or resonate with a person with out all the baggage the word pandering brings. The whole mess is because some companies started making lgbt characters and shouting there existence from the roof tops but the whole character is gay with nothing else.

Except we know how Flynn and Shaw are. We saw Shaw A LOT so we know most of his traits. They’re not just gay.

See here I have a problem with your statement. I was born in the 60 went thru the 70 's 80’s with no issue of being lesbian I never hid the fact i was I never let people talk me down. i say 90% of the people I have known in my life did not even care that I was or it even bothered them that i was.

I honestly don’t know what changed to make people feel like they were being ignored. And before you say Hollywood stop there. your using a really bad example of make believe.

This is just a case of our upbringing being different. I was born in 1990 under a very bigoted side of my family. So I had to hide it and it damn near killed me.

No I am not saying our lives were more sad or hard than each others. I’m just shining a bit of context here.

tbf I got the “Dumbledore is gay” vibe from the one book when he talked about how attached emotionally he was to the one bad wizard. Didn’t help that he was a lifelong bachelor in a community that was basically all about keepin those magical bloodlines goin’.

The other retroactive stuff is garbage, I agree. Though I like the really dumb imagery of wizards just crapping on the floor all the time and then making it disappear.

One couple is made of two important characters that were developed over years and in Thalysra’s case, players were heavily involved with for a while in Legion (The Nightfallen story arc is one of the better ones Blizzard did in recent history) having a relationship with potential major lore impacts.

On the other side you have one relatively minor character and one very minor character totally unknown to anyone not playing Alliance having a fling as a minor plot element in a book.

Yeah i wonder why people don’t equate both relationships.

I’m not saying they are. I’m saying that the word pandering, due to those actions by companies, has developed a negative connotation. I am perfectly fine with a well fleshed out character who is also lgbt. I haven’t read the book so I can’t give any opinions on how its done but the fact that I play Horde almost exclusively means what I know about the characters is from a in game perspective and to me its fine.

And I would classify Flynn and Shaw as that. I played thru alliance BFA on a worgen and my brain kept pinging at all their quips in that one mission they have together.

I joked “they are gonna furiously make out when they’re off camera I stg” lol

Family will always be against you. you will never ever live up to the expectation they demand. my father was against gay people and inter racial but he was the product of his time and I had to accept that fact. I can’t even tell you what my mother said when I was older it broke my soul and my heart and I had to walk
away.

You will find your place and inner peace in time but don’t hold everyone to the standard they all hate LGBTQ people Most do not even care or want to know respect them for that.

I hate both. And pretty much all the other relationship (if not EVERY other relationship) in wow.

It’s never really adds anything to the story and usually detracts from both the characters and story.

my sympathies. My grandma still doesn’t know. Some sick part of me wants to tell her I’m trans and gay when she finally gets on her death bed but it’s just better I never see her again. ( Trust me folks she is NOT a good person )

i read the book i dont see any sign shaw and fynn being gay im confused where you are getting it.

Blizz said they’re canon. If they’re subtle in the book I would just chalk that up to “it’s still budding” which is fair

meh i think blizz should stay away from doing couples stories they are horrible and cringy at it like lorthemar one and tyrande and malfurion however who wrote for the zandalari troll druid couple they did a good job XD
