I dont think it is that weird. What is more weird/annoying to me is all these powerhouses we are to revere do nothing ingame to give players and reason to care.
Like what has Cenarious actually done? Like they made such a big todo in Valsharah with him getting sick and corrupted and being put down in the raid…but we’ve had no ingame connection to him to really hammer home why this was such a blow.
Even in DF he is just the dude who shows up in the Marvel MCU big teamup and gave us a horn to buff allies who thanks us if we use it on him.
Cenarius is a demigod whose presence was considered a major threat by Archimonde and Mannoroth during their planned invasion of Kalimdor. They wound up using Grommash Hellscream to kill him after he got a second hit of felblood both to try and bring the orcs back under their control and because they were legitimately concerned that trying to fight him themselves would lead to them being too weakened or even killed.
Like, his death basically allowed the Demons to begin their assault in force.
So again: him jusst being alive again is really weird.
From what I saw of him in Shadowlands, I think he not only did the crime and did the time, but said outright that he had no regrets and would do it all again if given the opportunity. Which is kind of wild to say because part of ‘all he did’ was getting dangerously close to being consumed by Old God corruption.
No I understand the importance of the character…but not because of anything ingame which is my point.
Which is why it is hard for many to get into the loooooooooooooooore of the game because outside of the super in your face characters, there is little to no development. People whose only involvement with the Warcraft universe is WoW and skipping quests and talking heads doesn’t actually know or care why the big deer was/is such a big deal…and those are the players Blizzard is catering to these days…players who care far more about what fractions of percent spec A vs spec B does in content X under niche Y situation and who live and die by what spreadsheet dorks datamine from unreleased content than the world/universe their characters live and interact with.
That’s why I don’t classify this game as an MMORPG anymore. An MMO for sure but the RPG part is all but dead for what little it truly was in the first place.
Oddly enough, Garrosh. Sure, Arthas deserved better than a wisp, but Garrosh man…
Arthas you only got to see his whole journey roughly through warcraft 3 and reading a book. Garrosh’s journey is one you can see for the most part in the game itself, and through the years.
Better put, Garrosh was an evil we saw grow into an evil, that long process is one which still amazes me. I still saw MOP Orgrimmar is the best orgrimmar because the city actually changed with the warchief, a warchief who was actually a warchief, a conqueror. An Orc who did not give in to corruption but, when faced by the sha he embraced it wholeheartedly.
Or something like that, heh.
I don’t remember all what he did in shadowlands to be honest but, that sounds about right. Nothing about garrosh really made sense anyways, he was just the only orc war daddy we got
I think his presence was limited to the Soulrender Dormazain encounter in Sanctum of Domination, and pretty much all in the cutscene that plays after you defeat that boss. He goes out in a blaze of glory, being proud of everything he achieved in life.
